Description

A decent build I built for a friend who wanted to play PUBG and do some 3D modeling. It actually turned out really well! We had been planning it since December, and finally built it around the end of February. He says that he's getting decent FPS on a HP curved monitor, which is good, but kinda understandable for a 1070 Ti,

CPU: I regret recommending the 1600x, since it isn't much better than the 1600, but hey, we bought it already :P

CPU Cooler: Nice cooler, does its job well and barely turns on under most loads. However, the fans are kinda ugly, and the tubing is stiff metal/plastic. Should have gone with something with better tubing.

Motherboard: Really good looking, decent build quality, has actually a ton of features for the price. One complaint is that the WiFi antenna mount is really kinda crappy. Every time you go to screw in a wifi antenna, the antenna sockets unscrew themselves from the mount. Otherwise, it does its job will enough.

SSD: Nice, fast, cheap. What else could you want?

HDD: Bog-standard storage. Nothing to say here.

GPU: Really nice card, but doesn't have a back plate. Otherwise, solid performer, good cooling (Fans don't turn on most of the time)

Case: I have too many good things to say about it. First of all, shipping materials and first impressions were excellent, a good sign. Build quality was great. Tempered glass was a tad too dark, but otherwise showed off the lighting well. Cable management was pretty great, with logical cutouts and grommets at the right places. Airflow is decent. Really nice and compact.

Power Supply: Nice, semi-modular, black cables. I don't see the need to go fully modular since semi-modular is good enough in most cases.

EDIT: I applied a meager overclock of 100 MHz, will probably try overclocking the capacitors off next week.

EDIT: Proper Good pictures are coming on Monday. Took pictures in a hurry :P.

Part Reviews

CPU

Go for non-x version instead. Otherwise, solid performer.

CPU Cooler

Good cooler. However, outdated mounting mechanisms, terrible stiff and plastic tubing, and (IMO) ugly fans.

Motherboard

Really good X370 board. However, the wifi antenna assembly is really bad (the antenna mounts have a tendency to become really loose. Otherwise, nice board with nice accessories as well.

Memory

Good kit of memory, nice-looking, not too flashy. Easily overclocked using XMP from 2133MHz to 3200.

Storage

Really cheap and fast SSD. Good enough for an OS and some critical apps.

Storage

Bog-standard, reliable spinning storage. Enough said.

Video Card

Excellent cooler, excellent performance, however, no backplate. Not that the card's back is visible from dark TG.

Case

Great case. Well-built, good cable management, logical layout. Watch out, though, there is a rubber foot under power supply location that makes installation only a bit of a pain.

Power Supply

Power. Good enough. Nice black cables.

Great looking build my friend, only thing i recommend is move slot 1 DRAM to slot 4. Your motherboard should have dual channel memory. And right now you aren't utilizing it! Other than that looks great!

Yee. Realized mistake a while ago and switched. Will update with photos.

Uhm, can I ask you something technical? Basically, on Fractal Designs website, it says that you can't use a radiator on the top if you have memory that's higher than 40mm. The Trident Z RGB is 44mm in height. Could you tell me whether or not the radiator is close to touching the memory? If so, how close (approximately)?

Ja. Sorry for the late report, without 2 fans, you should be fine. I had no problem clearing the RAM. Not sure about the RGB and potentially extra hardware, but I had no issues. BTW, what AIO are u gonna use.

H115i. There are mounting holes at the top for 280mm, but I don't really know for sure.

If all else fails, you could front mount... Or break out the Angle Grinder and watch a few linus tech tips videos :)

I can't mount front because I have a 298mm graphics card :(

I'm considering just getting a Fractal Design Celsius and putting RGB fans on it

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. Or, get some overkill Noctua Industrial 106 CFM fans and like an ultra thick cooler. Or just get an EK predator.
