Description

I built my own computer! It's not much, no not much at all but it is mine. Most of it was together as it was from spare parts from my family but I installed the GPU and PSU as they needed upgrading.

Pc Gaming is the best gaming experience period. Even this ultra low end build is better than my PS4 or Switch.

My future upgrades will be this https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Judespace/saved/dXxRJx

The case could be saved but I think it needs to go.

GAMES

This is a super budget gaming computer, I can play fortnite on high at about 60 fps, TABG at medium 40 FPS, Beamng, low 40 FPS with some drops. Older/ lower end games run at 60 fps ultra like battlefront 2classic and civ 5 high at around 50.

Part Reviews

CPU

Love the phenom it's not amazing or anything but it works really well. Bottleneck is preventing me from getting a better gpu, 1050ti or RX 580 so I can play some more games.

Motherboard

It's ASUS it works, good sata ports I guess. I can overclock which is a plus.

Memory

Only 4 gigs so I can't play all the newest games but hey it works and is an OK kit. Have it running at 1600 MHz right now with no instability, but that would make sense, as it is the advertised speed.

Storage

Is an SSD, I'm trying to use all Solid State for future upgrades, will get NVME with the newest board. Boot times and load times are pretty quick, but steam loads a little slow after the login screen for some reason, but that could be cause I only have 4 gigs of RAM.

Video Card

It's a 2gb card from EVGA with an OC, it's was free, and I love it. I haven't tried pushing it past 1.01 or whatever it is clocked at, but the thermals would be pretty bad as it is a reference model and the thermal paste hasn't been replaced ever.

Case

This isn't the exact Smilodon but it works. Cable management is terrible, as the back panel can't be opened to stuff cables in, so I have to shove the stuff around the case, not great. Bad review cause cable management and no 2.5 inch drive bays.

Power Supply

EVGA unit, 850 watt, gold, and crazy warranty!

Wireless Network Adapter

It's slow. I'm cheap and won't buy a PCIE adapter though so it'll do

Monitor

Good monitor, will use it as a 2nd monitor in the future.

Monitor

My uncle found this in an alley one day and kept it at his place for a bit. We plugged it in to an older XP system and it showed a pretty solid image considering it was destined for an E-Waste pile. I don't have both monitors set up right now but for free I can't complain

Keyboard

Super quiet. Some feel is lost but this is my first mechanical keyboard and I'm not complaining.

Mouse

I actually like this mouse now that I’ve been using it for a while longer. I own 5 mice and this is probably the 2nd best with only my g502 beating it out. I got it refurbished of NewEgg flash for 25 dollars which is about half of retail. For that price it’s a hella good mouse but I don’t think I would pay the full 50 for it. I use this for fps and shooters and my g502 for pretty much everything else. It’s light but chroma is limited However, I can do some cool rgb stuff with this which is always good.

For the 25 dollars I paid, I don't have a problem with it but I feel the 50 ish it retailed at the time wasn't really worth it. The m65 pro, G pro, or g502 are better buys in this case, more buttons, customization etc. Overall 4/5

I always love when someone is able to I guess "scrap" some parts and put them together to make a gaming beast. +1

Pretty cool build. Gets pretty good frames on Fortnite which is really all that matters :P Bit overkill on the psu maybe?????

why that psu? no reason you should need anything above like a 400 watt

It was sort of a gift, I split the cost with someone and that was on sale, so it was cheaper. I know its overkill and really 600 watts would be fine for future expansion but it is what it is.

Hahaha I wish there were more pictures so I could have more to say. For 200$ and a first build, it looks very decent. The power supply is confusing me a bit but I like what I see. +1

Added some more photos of the atrocious cable management and some bad ones with the lights of and rgb on

hahaha when you have the time you can totally fix the cabling. RGB compliments the simplicity of the case. Ever thought about putting figures in the case? I actually put Bakugan in my PC and I saw some people put figures like Fallout. Anything to make your PC stand out from the rest. Thx for the effort of uploading more pics, PC gaming for the win!

Nice build. I love how you used spare parts and got a good computer up and running. It's super cheap and seems to run games fine. Great job!

I respect your build and resourcefulness, but i must admit the very first thing i saw was your desk and painting in second picture. Really like those. +1
