Description

This is a RE-Build of an emachines that I had. I had this computer since the mid-2000's. Replaced this year with an itx build but becase I'm a cheapskate I did not want to throw it out. Thought it would be fun to build with kids. This is just for web browsing and very light gaming. Will probably put some console emulators on it. Running Win 8.1 very smoothly so far. Have not benched yet. HD, OD and most mounting hardware was from original PC.

Update: first upgrade to this pc was added today. HD6670 from my old computer was added. Now running Dual Graphics.

Udate: Upgraded the gpu to a 750ti from my main pc. SSD was also updated to a crucial m500.

I can appreciate builds like these. I have an old Compaq that I wanted to gut and re-purpose the case for something similar. It's like a decent computer disguised as a really bad one, I love it.

Thanks for the look. I think i'm addicted to building on a budget. I've already got another one planned. Next build's budget will be sub $200.

Great budget build. Personally I would have dispensed with the SSD and gotten a Seagate 1TB hybrid drive, but that's just me.

After expriencing the speed of SSD's its hard to go back. The reason i didn't purchase a new HD is because i have about 6 HD's lying around the house. Will install once i figure out a mounting solution. Thanks for the look.

True. I have a 512GB in mine, and I'll never go back, but when I used a hybrid in my father's build, it was pretty darn good.

I'm curious about Hybrid drives. I did consider that for the build also. How is the performance of a Hybrid compared to a SSD?

Very satisfying to put something together at this pricepoint. When performing general PC tasks it feels just as fast as my other PC running a Haswell i5.
