This was my first budget gaming build. I wanted to keep it under $500 for the core parts only. Overall I am very happy with how everything turned out. It runs quiet, plays most games at 60fps without a problem, boots very fast for a HDD, and looks sick! The build itself was super smooth, I thought not having a modular power supply was going to be a problem for a mini-ITX case, but cable management wasn't bad at all. The parts that are purchased, I bought from Jet with a coupon code.

Part Reviews

If you're going after a budget build for casual gaming or just a home PC, you can't go wrong with this processor. The price to performance ratio is unbeatable. With 2400mhz RAM, it is almost identical with the Kaby Lake i3. This processor with the RX 570 gets you at least 60fps on most games.

There's not many options when it comes to Mini ITX B250 motherboards, but MSI does have one and they have a good BIOS. Everything I needed in a motherboard.

Great value here. 2400mhz for $60 is a great deal, very durable case too. Can't go wrong here.

All I can say is that this HDD is fast, can't beat it.

Video Card

Can't be happier with this purchase. The Pentium G4560 works wonders with this card. So far haven't had any problems with getting too hot or too loud. I have no doubt this card will last years.

Love this case. This case gets A LOT of ventilation which is good. Comes with a 200mm fan which runs quietly; really a good quality case. I thought cable management was going to be an issue as I did not use a modular PSU, but it wasn't a problem whatsoever. It has two levels basically, the bottom for the PSU and cables and the top for everything else.

Power Supply

I know the wattage is a bit overkill for this build, but it was only $5 more than a 500W. No problems here. Plenty of cable if I upgrade in the future.

How did you manage to get the 570 for so cheap? I cant find one under 180 rn.

Venenosa 1 Build 1 point 19 months ago

I have the same question! When these things first came out they were around this price, but right now?? The prices have sky rocketed, from the 470 to the 580, these cards are now a lot more expensive. You say $160-$180, they're like 200 minimum

At this point i could recommend a GTX 1060 3GB if you can find a good deal on it.

I was between the RX 570 and the 1060 3GB, but I really wanted that extra GB of VRAM, and the cheapest deal I could find at the time for a 1060 was ~$225.

if you want someone to blame for high gpu prices blame the gpu miners

blakeow14 submitter 1 Build 1 point 19 months ago

the name of this build...

Eisendrache 1 point 19 months ago

I hope you're aware about the meaning of 'white knight'

blakeow14 submitter 1 Build 1 point 18 months ago

Yes, I am aware. But don't know what is has to do with the name of a PC lol

First time coming from consoles. Would this be a decent first PC? Still quite new to everything.

blakeow14 submitter 1 Build 1 point 18 months ago

Yeah, I would think so, it runs all my games 1080@60fps, all the while having background applications running. If I could go back and build it again, I honestly wouldn't change a thing.

PoeDomo 1 point 18 months ago

The ironic thing is it's called the White Knight yet you still paired an Intel chip with an AMD card.

blakeow14 submitter 1 Build 1 point 18 months ago

Actually at the price point of the RX 570, the G4560 runs a lot better with it than it would with a GTX card at the same price point, like the 1050ti.

PoeDomo 2 points 18 months ago

Yeah I know, I just find the name a tad silly. You have a solid build though!
