Description

With Dark Souls III on the horizon I was considering getting a PS4, but instead decided to put up some extra cash for a superior machine. I couldn't be happier! I had a lot of fun researching, collecting parts, and putting this beauty together. Overall just a really enjoyable experience :)

I bought the graphics card, PSU, HDD, and CPU off of Amazon Warehouse, with those discounts it was a little less than $950 total. I am very grateful to PCPartPicker; such a great resource! A smooth ride from inception to completion.

Glad to hear you enjoyed researching parts and putting together the PC.

It was fun for me to research parts, too; especially putting it together.

Awesome sauce! Good job. I'm like the color but maybe look into some Hue for extra glamour. Maybe add some BITFENIX Multi-Sleeved cables for the extra style (http://www.performance-pcs.com/bitfenix-multi-sleeved-cables). Other than that I'm excited for you. Researching always fun but the blood, sweat, and tears are what forms the PCMasterRace.

Thanks for the recommendation, I will be tweaking the colors for sure. Will likely get some changeable RGB lights and maybe some UV... I like the cords; tho with my current case window you cant really see the wiring. Definitely will be customizing as things progress, that's the beauty of PC!

No problem. RGB would look good not so sure about UV might be hard to do without spending too much. Look around on www.performance-pcs.com that's where I find parts I've never seen and get some of my ideas from.

Been checking it out. Seems like a great site! and they've got UV, its not too pricey: http://www.performance-pcs.com/12-cathode-light-kit-sleeved-ultraviolet.html

thanks for recommending hue; just installed and i love it! also put in the UV but it is hard to tell because not much of my hardware has uv active coloring. maybe i will get those sleeves next...

why the 6600k and noctua heatsink if you have a h170 board?

You have an overclockable cpu and an expensive cooler but it's all being wasted since you can't overlcock on that motherboard

I decided to try overclocking despite your comment; and I am really glad I did. I am not sure where you are getting your information but this build is fully capable of overclocking. Please know your facts before providing misinformation.

Did you do it in bios?

And I do know my facts. Z170 is the only motherboard that can overlcock skylake. Whatever you are doing is not overclocking.

Im sorry, this is all quite new to me. I see now that you are clearly talking about the cpu, and after further research yes you are absolutely correct. I was getting good results overclocking my gpu and remembered this comment as being all encompassing. Im sorry; guess im the one who should do the fact checking before a post!

" a Z170 based motherboard will allow you to unlock the multiplier on your CPU in order to significantly overclock it provided you have an installed unlocked multiplier CPU AKA ‘K’ Series (Intel i5 6600K & i7 6700K). A H170 based mother board will not allow you to unlock the multiplier on your CPU in order to significantly overclock it irrelevant of what CPU is installed."

Hey as the site says the card may be a little long and block drive bays. Did you have any issues with that. As I am planning on using the same card/case so i was wondering if they would work nicely. :)
