Description

This is my first pc build. I wanted it to run pretty much anything with no compromises. Planned for about a month researching for parts and watching tutorials. Never thought it would go so smoothly. Thanks to those who make amazing youtube tutorials!

Budget: $2000

Part Reviews

CPU

got it from microcenter for $299 in a bundle with mobo great deal. runs great, no problem

CPU Cooler

a little coil whine at first. switched to performance mode in CAM for half an hour and it's gone. keeps my cpu cool

Motherboard

got it over the hero for its built in wifi, more connections than i need. q code very helpful

Storage

blazing fast loading gtav and wow

Video Card

couldn't wait for the hybrids and got this one. some say the rgb is too much in your face but i like it. runs at 69c at load, good enough and handles any games i play, no complains

Case

great layout, ample airflow, huge tempered glass, what's to not like?

Power Supply

aimed for a 750w but got this one with a good deal, i guess i wont be breaking its sweat a lot

Case Fan

can do well as both case fans and radiator fans, looks awesome, runs quiet but it can be loud at full speed

I like the "in your face" look of the badging on the 1080 Ti.

What are your temps with the Kraken like? Have you OC'd the CPU?

not yet. full load at about 60 degrees

I have one too and mine runs at 69-70c on STOCK .... grrrrrr

that still sounds fine to me, check thermal paste maybe?

My Cooler Master EVO 212 does 71c on stock, I would have hoped for more, give that the CM is a budget air cooler :) Done the paste 3 times, re-seated etc etc ... oh well

How's it mounted? If its on the top or back it might be sucking in hot air from the mobo/gpu, also make sure you got some good fans. The kraken is a great 240 aio and shouldnt be having many problems.

Love that orange/red on the motherboard with the white kraken!

Is this a 4k ready rig? and How hot does she get when overclocking?

  • 1 point

I've yet to test those since I'm adding a new 4k monitor in the near future. The kraken keeps my cpu at about 60 degrees full load & stock, which I believe leaves enough head room for oc

hey I'm building a rig quite similar to yours love how yours looks btw! just curious and kind of a noobie question but did you put the other 2 corsair fans on your kraken ? does that make it cooler or the whole rig in general cooler ? any answer appreciated!

Yes, I had two corsair fans and two stock nzxt fans on the kraken radiator in push/pull. This way, they pull more air through the radiator, make radiator cool better and gets the positive pressure inside the case(more intake fans than exhausts)

How's the lighting on the Corsair Dominator? Is it a suttle glow or is it pretty apparent?

there is no lighting on these memory sticks

Haha I find it funny that you build a silent pc and then bought a razer keyboard. Probably one of the loudest keyboards out there.

Any silent mechanical keyboard recommendations?

Go with the Logitech G810 Spectrum

How many additional fans should I get apart from what comes with the case?

  • 1 point

It really depends. I ordered 5 extra fans and replaced the only fan that came with the case. I'd say 2 more fans minimum so you can mount those either on the top or in the front of the case.

Amazing build, looks very clean! I'm considering making one similar to yours. Only questions I have is which fans do you have as input/output, and how on earth did you get a 1080ti that cheap?!

Thanks in advanced and looks amazing!
