Description

This PC will be used almost exclusively for gaming and maybe light office work. I do not do anything too CPU intensive at home. It will be replacing my 6+ year old machine consisting of a i5-3570K and GTX 560 in an NZXT Phantom 410 that I built the summer before college. My current machine actually runs quite well and hasn't fully shown its age, however I felt it was time for a brand new, kickass machine with all the RGB's. I am not going to retire my current build, but rather convert to something like a Plex server, with a few polished upgrades (new case, more storage space, power supply, etc.).

The parts list has been changing and evolving over the last two years as new parts and new deals became available. I decided to buy parts over time which seemed to work in my favor in terms of pricing (with the exception of RAM). I did not include a price on the SSD's as I got them for free from my IT job. The only issue I really had with parts was receiving the NZXT Kraken x62 from Amazon on same day delivery. It arrived in a matter of hours which was nice, however the box and pump were completely smashed. With a few clicks, Amazon amazingly had a replacement to my house in 2 days.

Inevitably, I ended up building the exact same S340 Elite build as everyone else here (not that that's a bad thing, they look amazing!). I made the cable extensions myself with materials from Mainframe Customs, which was a grueling but rewarding experience, and I am overall quite pleased with the final result.

Next steps will be overclocking (already have +60MHz on GPU and modest 4.2GHz on CPU) and general testing and playing.

(Sorry for the absolutely awful picture quality!)

Thanks and enjoy!

Custom made sleeved cables - not something you see every day. Well done! They look great

Amazing work on cable management and custom sleeving! Cool colour scheme, overwatch player, and attention to detail, you have my vote!

Thanks, glad you liked it! I feel obligated to tell you, I'm a Genji main though.

Custom cabling, finally. It's been so long that I have not seen somewhere in a build that they bought cable mod extensions. Vote +1

This might be a stupid question but what's the difference between the Z270E and Z270F motherboards? They look identical and have identical specs as far as I can tell...I have the Z270E and I honestly couldn't tell yours apart from mine.

The only difference that I am aware of is that the Z270E has built-in WiFi/Bluetooth, which is why I went with the Z270F. Didn't need those features and it was more cost-effective.

Oh ok, thanks! Glad I stuck with the E variant then, I need the Bluetooth!

Did you put a white backplate behind that k65 lux?? That’s amazing!

Yes I did! I just made a rough, at-home version but you can find actual instructions for 3D printing them here.

hey man! love your build, this might sound really wierd but is the fan changeable on the gpu as it is a hybrid, thanks in advance :)

Yeah, the GPU came with a Corsair white LED fan which I swapped out for an NZXT Aer 120.
