This build was done for a friend with an Xbox One who wanted to get into PC gaming. His budget was around 500 dollars and this was the best build that I could come up with. It runs cool and quiet at idle and my friend loves it so far.
This CPU was the cheapest quad core I could find on the LGA 1150 platform. It works fine for gaming and general use.
This motherboard was the perfect balance between features and price for me. It is based on the H87 platform rather that the cheaper and less feature rich B85 and H81 platforms. It accepted the Haswell Refresh CPU without needing a BIOS update.
This RAM worked. It is also cheap. I have had no problems with it so far
This SSD was fast and was great option at this price point
I got this card from a website called gpushack.com. As indicated, the card came without the sticker and shows signs of wear and tear. It is very good at this price point and plays most games 1080p/60FPS on high. Unless you can find a better deal on eBay, I would highly recommend buying this card or any card from gpushack.com.
This case is very cool looking with a blue led fan in the rear exhaust slot. It does not have a ton of room for cable management but it gets the job done and looks cool for the low price of $25.
This PSU was Tier 3 on the Toms Hardware PSU quality list here and seems to get the job done in this budget machine. Installation was strait forward and I have no major complaints so far.
