Description

This is my at home work PC for: Photoshop, light video editing, light gaming, programming, and general usage. Wanted to go with a silver/blue theme, as red/black is pretty played out IMO.

CPU: Probably more than I'll ever need/use, but why not. All my googles load fast now.

Cooler: Fairly quiet, and temps aren't terrible at low 30's.

MB: Pretty decent, matches my color scheme, bios is easy to navigate.

RAM: Matches the theme, ran at 1866 out the box.

Storage: SSD is for programs, HDD for plex media.

Video Card: Reasons why I got the 960: only need 1 pcie connector, quiet, stays cool, has 3 DP, 1 HDMI, low wattage. I know I could've gotten atleast a 280 for the same price, with more performance, but I've always had better experience with team green drivers, and I didn't want to spend the extra ~130$ on a 970 that I won't even utilize. Bring on the flames!

Case: Fell in love with the case since the first time I saw it, love the big glass windows and how it's laid out.

Power Supply: Fanless, fully modular, and platinum rated!

Monitor: Its wide. Fun with games & multitasking

Mouse: works on my glass table and is super responsive.

Keyboard: Minimalistic, mechanical, matches the color scheme fairly well.

OS: 10 iz gud.

Custom Sleeving: Had the PSU shipped to Ultimate Personal Computers (Check em out, they're cool) - They sleeve whichever of the PSU cables you'd like, decently priced, but customer service is awesome. The dude sleeving my cables emailed me throughout the whole process and before they shipped it out sent about 20 pictures.

Overall this thing is super quiet and great to look at. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

+1 for the name. Parks and rec FTW!!! Also a really good build. Love the case. Can't wait to see a 970 in there.

oberon13 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 54 months ago

Tafel_Kafel 1 point 53 months ago

I'm late, but how's the PSU?

oberon13 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 53 months ago

My house hasn't burnt down yet, so i'm assuming its working! I've done a few random heat tests and havent seen anything abnormal yet...the fact that its fanless is awesome. Only thing problem i've had was with one of the SATA power cables that came with it - was wired poorly so it kept tripping the PSU, other than that, no complaints. The only way this would be better is if it was free and 100% efficient.

Tafel_Kafel 1 point 53 months ago

Thanks

lalutte 1 point 53 months ago

so.... you got a PH-F140HP in the intake tray? interesting....

do you think the Noctua Redux 140 would fit?

oberon13 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 53 months ago

I'm fairly certain it would. the NF-A15 almost fit, but it was a smidgeon too long...So i'm fairly certain any 140mm fan would fit as long as it has 120mm mounting holes.

Daryl276 1 point 50 months ago

Are you Linus?

oberon13 submitter 3 Builds 3 points 50 months ago

No. I'm american.

Daryl276 1 point 50 months ago

jeisenhart34 1 point 49 months ago

+1 because of the Parks and Recreation reference

M3RICA_ 1 point 49 months ago

Is it just me, or is this missing a graphics card. I srsly can't find it.

+1 from me.

oberon13 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 49 months ago

Sorry, never uploaded the pic when I got the card, I'll put it up tonight. I'm actually going to be switching to the evga ssc one though, since the asus is slightly too wide and the cables hit the window. i've just been running it without the front glass.

oberon13 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 49 months ago

d'ya go

M3RICA_ 1 point 49 months ago

Thanks a lot. Too bad you have to replace it. :/

Kiing_Hiipo 1 Build 1 point 46 months ago

Instead if the 960, I would've gone with a HD 4450 and used the rest of the money to go to Space Camp.

+666

loody 1 point 46 months ago

I am really interested in the cpu cooler you have used. Did you use the steel clips that came with the cooler to mount the Silverstone fan?

oberon13 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 46 months ago

yep! I'll post new pictures tonight, i've made several changes since the initial pictures were taken.

Kalistol 1 Build 1 point 41 months ago

MushroomTip 1 point 35 months ago

Looks awesome would love to see it with the side panel on and how it looks with the leds.

silvergate 2 Builds 0 points 53 months ago

Hi. Nice powerful components here. Add an efficient card like the gtx 970 and you will have a powerhouse that complements on i7 k series CPU.

oberon13 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 53 months ago

Thanks for the thought, I'll probably wait for the 960's though as most of the stuff I do isn't display intensive, and I'm curious to see what the temps of the 960's will be since the 980's/970's appear to be really good aswell....team901!

I'm still waiting on my 970...They just came back into stock on newegg, but instantly sold out...So far airflow is fine though, top-down coolers definately help move some stagnant air.

oberon13 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 53 months ago

Good catch! I'll probably get the gigabyte windoforce 3x - as that one looks to be just 129mm, otherwise I may just wait for the 960 series then.

lalutte 1 point 53 months ago

I think the Gigabytes are too long. There are Zotac, EVGA and MSI options. All worth the compromise to get that power in that case!

oberon13 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 53 months ago

Gigabyte just came out with an ITX 970...may look into that.
