Description

I originally got this in 2012 as a christmas present. After putting it together I found that the motherboard was doa. no post beep no fan spin up. nothing. So after around 6 months of waiting to get the mobo back from gigabyte we got it back put everything back together and it worked fine. Originally I had an i5 2500k @ 4.5 in here, but for christmas 2013 I got an i7 3770k to replace it because of the hyper threads. Recently I went to go back to my i5 and found that a pin was bent. Overall I love this build, but intend to upgrade this summer to a complete AMD build. The consoles use amd chips and cards so that's what games will be optimized for. Please comment impressions, thoughts, etc. thanks! (also, i didn't build it on carpet/blanket lel, simply pulled it out and had it laying there for convenience)

I use this build for mainly gaming, youtube, and watching movies.

Games I can play max/ultra with above 50 fps: BF4, Titanfall, Bioshock Infinite, BL2, all cods (except ghosts), and quite a few others Games I can play high/medium with above 50 fps: Cod ghosts, Far Cry 3

why would you upgrade to an amd setup a 3770k is much more powerful than any amd cpu and btw the games aren't gonna be optimised for amd cpu even though it's a amd cpu that's in the consoles, because that's simply not how it work.

the 8 core in consoles and the fx8350 is two waaaaaaaaaay different chips that have nothing to do with eachother. the Chip in the consoles is more a less a APU with 8 threads. And thinking that just because amd is the maker of games it's gonna be optimised for amd cpus? No way.

the might be better optimsed for more threads. but an i7 has 8 threads aswell, and they're much more powerful than any amd thread. we're taking 50-60% here.

I am no intel fanboy, but it's simply not facts that's it's gonna work like that. the games are reprogrammed to even work with a PC because it's another story and yes even though the xbone uses directx it's still needs to be optimized to work with PCs correctly, and you're not gonna see any preformance differences by going amd instead of intel.

Pc games are optimized waaaaaay differently that console games since they run at a special resolution and settings so there's not a lot tweeking needed to make the game optimised for the hardware.

pc has thousand of different cpus, ram, gpu.

TL;DR the console engine and pc engine is two different things.

I don't know about 50-60%, if anything more like 10-20% AMD really caught up quite a bit last generation of processors. You are right when saying that PC hardware will not be optimized for games that happen to be cross platform though.

wait what, http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/446/AMD_FX-Series_FX-8350_vs_Intel_Core_i5_i5-4670K.html Look at single threaded if that isn't 50% i donno what it is. I was taking core vs core. and yes the i7 beats the fx 8350 (AT STOCK) by around 50% aswell.

DO NOT post CPU-WORLD bulls%t. Those are just numbers, with no benchmarks or real world applications to back it up.

welp have this instead, look at cinebench single thread. (1.1 fx8350)-(1.7 i5) that's around 50% then look at cinebench r10 from where the fx scores around 4300 and the i5 scores 7300 so yeah, you wanted real numbers. here you go.

Once again, that's cinebench not a real "game", show me a benchmarked BF4 wwith both CPU's against eachother.

Yes this was a bit painful to read, but you should probably stick with intel. especially since you got an i7.

Yeah I get what you're saying. And I have nothing against Intel but I've had so many different issues with Intel processors not performing how i would like them to it's ridiculous. And from what i hear and what could be considered common sense Amd gpus work a lot better with amd cpus. I don't know. It just depends on prices when the time comes. Amd cpus are a lot cheaper than intel cpus.

What kinda issues are you getting?

Don't upgrade to an AMD build. Yes consoles do have AMD based hardware in them and will be optimized for AMD "GPU's", the CPU will not make any difference what so ever in optimization for gaming. Considering that you already have an AMD graphics card, there is no need to upgrade as of yet. If you do choose to replace your i7 with an FX, you will be looking at less performance in upcoming games. If anything focus on upgrading the HDD, monitors, mouse, motherboard, or case if you want to upgrade anything at all.
