Description

My daily driver at home, being used to hold and play all my Steam, Origin, and Uplay games. Other than gaming, I also use it as a reddit and facebook machine, but also occasionally edit videos, mix music and use Mac OS X for that. Once I got the 970, I had to reinstall Mac OS X to my hackintosh drive because of the errors I had with the incompatibilities with Nvidia's Maxwell in OS X. Before I had the card, I was running OS X on a Zotac GTX 770 and it was running flawlessly. In terms of gaming, generally I play a lot of FPS's and some RPG's. Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, GTA IV, (waiting for GTA V), Max Payne 3, Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4, Borderlands 2, Borderlands Pre Sequel, GRID, GRID 2, GRID Autosport, the whole Bioshock series, and my most favourite, Payday 2.

Part Choice:

CPU - I had this processor for a while, and never had any complaints about it. Check the clock rate and temps on the side.>

CPU COOLER - I originally thought the H105 was a 280mm AIO, and was going to buy it until i found out otherwise that it was only a 240. The H110, which is a 280mm did not have any colour customization options, and had ****** fans, so that's why I avoided it. My other option was the Swiftech H220X, because it was an expandable AIO, but due to the unavailability in Canada, I avoided it.

GPU - At the time of purchase, the G1 GAMING card from Gigabyte had the highest overclock out of the box. The graphics IO config perfects the design along with the included black machined metal backplate. The feature that i really wanted on a GTX 970 was an LED that worked with GeForce Experience. The huge WINDFORCE logo looks awesome if you have the right colour scheme in your case to go along with it. Just holding it, you can feel the solidity and robustness of the card.

CASE - Once the Air 540 arrived at my house, I completely forgot that i ordered an EATX compatible case. THIS THING IS FRIGGIN HUGE. Its slightly shorter than your average mid ATX tower, but its double the width. Note to self: measure the cases before you buy next time. Since i love the cubic shape, I plan on getting the Air 240 for my next LAN rig build.

Did you change some of the switches on the black widow?

Not OP, but it looks like they are the caps that have been changed not the actual switches. If you live in the UK like myself there are nearly impossible to find but if you google mechanical keyboard keycaps I'm sure you'll find a tonne of them on the web mainly from America

Yeah that's what I meant,'I live in ireland so they'll probably be pretty hard to find for me too

i got glow in the dark keycaps from http://www.keypop.net/, but you can get keycaps from wasd keyboards as well. The Kail switches found in the blackwidow are just like cherry mx switches, so any cherry mx keycap would work with this keyboard.

Why did you buy all the RAM separately? you could've saved a ton of money buying them in packs of 2 each.

I upgraded the ram, in packs of two. They no longer make the normal ripjaws, so because of my budget i settled for an adata pack, but it's 1600 MHz, not 1333 as listed above.

This is a myth, atleast on my build. I think the price fluctuated £1 either way (sometimes single are cheaper sometimes two pack).
