Description

Budget gaming build for a friend. Budget was $1,000 but had to include other periphery, including extraneous items we were right on budget. Overall I'm pleased with how it went.

Initially CPU cooler didn't seat correctly, BIOS showed CPU idling at 80C. Shut it down, removed the cooler, cleaned, reapplied thermal paste, reattached CPU cooler. Idled at a much more reasonable 32C.

You should try to hide the 8 pin EPS cable behind the motherboard if it reaches.

I tried, it wasn't quite long enough to route around the back unfortunately.

Flip the PSU...

yeah. if you flip the psu, the extra length should be enough. As long as the build isn't on carpet, you should do this anyway to get better cooling to the PSU.

Unfortunately this machine will be on carpet.

Not sure why this was downvoted. Just because you got an unlocked motherboard, maybe he liked the board? I think it was pretty well build overall. I upvoted you.

really? A $765 gaming build with a 7850. I think that's why.

Yeah, he could have gotten a 6300 and a 760/270x or something, but he could always crossfire later down.

the case and CPU are the only two choices I like in a $765 build.

Well then it was a good build, he could have gotten a cheaper motherboard and a WD Blue but this build is great if he needs crossfire in the future.

Other than your idle temp being kinda high, as long as your friend likes it, +1!

No reason not to get a 4670k or a H81 motherboard.

Also the PSU cables are stupidly ugly.

Hey great pc build, I was wondering since I have the same mobo, which drivers you needed to download from msi's website. I know you just go to the product then the downloads then to drivers, but when there which do you download?
