Description

First build I've made in three years after suffering through a box of compromise and sadness.

This is less of that, and more goodness.

Ended up paying a bit more than current value for the processor, as I bought that first. But snagged some good deals on other items so things balance out a bit.

Debated heavily on splurging on a GTX 980 and decided to go 970 with the intention to SLI further down the road.

Kraken x61 works well and was a breeze to install once you figure things out (very little by way of labeling for assembly), keeps CPU between mid 20C idle, mid 40s under load "Silent" setting. Need to run some more testing, but so far so good.

Balanced build overall, but I would assume that you plan to add another 970 in a future, or why the 850w? You should upload pics of the inside. Good job man.

That's the plan. Didn't need to splurge on a second 970 right now, I'll be upgrading my monitor setup in the summer and that will probably warrant going SLI if I decide to go 2560 x 1440. Witcher 3 may push up that time table too depending on how well this rig runs things.

More pics coming soon...

Nice to see another Razer case out there. I love mine, its super clean looking. I would suggest ditching the side window for a piece of glass though. No scratching, no dust collecting via static electricity either. That smoked POS they send with the case is terrible for that. Check out my build page if your curious what the glass looks like installed on the same case. Good start on that build. Keep it up

Is that power supply and case something I could cut back on if I went for a standard blue h440 case?-and maybe a less expensive power supply

You could totally cut back on the PSU, I wanted to make sure I had room to grow and got a pretty great price on it. As for the case, I really like the h440. I went with the special edition because it matched my keyboard and mouse. Other colors i've seen at better savings, paid a bit of a premium being Razer.

More pictures would be nice, and if you call this mid-level I'd hate to see what you would come up with for a high-level build :D

Nice build!, but its definitely not mid range. Nice color choice too! :3

Hah, mid-range in the sense that it's still a work in progress and I've seen builds here in the $2000-$3000 range. Also that I didn't go balls to the wall on premium MB, processor or GPU.

Wow this is exactly as my build was going to be before I changed it a lot, same case, mobo, watercooling etc. I am now going Corsair h110i GT, Asus Z97-A and a 980 Ti. Still 850W though.
