Description

I do not game, this is one of my work machines. I use it for software development, which includes Machine Learning (hence GPUs) as well as high performance algorithms. However this machines sits in the middle of my home office and I wanted it to look reasonably good and somewhat cool, hence all the RGB lighting. Case was almost perfect for all the hardware with exception of PSU. Putting 1500W PSU in this case was a bit of a problem and required some modding, nothing major. My other older machine has four Maxwell Titan Xs. Two Titan X Pascal in this machine come within 25% of four Maxwell Titan Xs as far as performance. Cooler is EKWB Predator 360 and it's just enough to cool overclocked CPU and two GPUs (GPUs are not overclocked, otherwise cooler is a bit overwhelmed).

Your CPU cost more than my son's used car! Damn. Since this is for work how long do you think you will need to produce on it to pay it off? That's a heck of tax write-off!

vfridman submitter 1 Build 6 points 27 months ago

I think I'd have to labor on it until judgement day...

vfridman submitter 1 Build 5 points 27 months ago

I also have to confess that I want to get into gaming, it's just every time I try I really suck at it which is no fun at all. Maybe one day...

Jackdadog888 3 Builds 6 points 26 months ago

You should start out with easy games like: Club Penguin or Minesweeper!! If you do, please share your benchmarks!

cobbleking 8 points 25 months ago

I don't know if this can run Minesweeper.....

MasonMac 4 points 27 months ago

You should probably try some easier games and work up

plzDonateAgame 2 points 20 months ago

You should TOTALLY get into gaming. This beast can handle anything you throw at it. IDK what type of software you're developing that requires a pentacore processor.

KSP is good, SpaceEngineers is good, StarCitizen looks very promising but it's still in Alpha I believe.

That machine has as many gigs of ram as my laptop has gigs of storage

WorldWideReach 3 points 23 months ago

wins bigly!

Ethan_Nathe 3 points 27 months ago

That poor wallet.

broger22 3 points 27 months ago

Can you please tell me where in the world you found the Pascal Titan X's?

How is building in the Dark Base Pro and overall build quality? I thought I was one of the few who wanted to build in it. I will be making a PSU shroud for it though.

+1 for the build and deep learning.

OwlHeadGaming 2 points 25 months ago

if you press show all on the gpu section and scroll all the way down you can see it at the very bottom

vfridman submitter 1 Build 1 point 27 months ago

Titan X Pascal are only made by Nvidia itself and only sold directly from their site: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/10series/titan-x-pascal Build quality of this case is unfortunately below average, I had problems trying to unscrew couple of screws which was a real pain. However flexibility of this case saved me, for example the ability to move MB down by a lot allowed installation of Predator on the top. I also suggest not to use more than 1200W PSU as putting a bigger one is a pain due to much bigger socket that all 1500W PSUs use.

Yadro 1 Build 3 points 27 months ago

Such a beautiful build deserves MORE Pics.

PigWithAMustache 2 Builds 3 points 27 months ago

Maybe consider getting into playing crysis. Though im not sure if you could run it.

cobbleking 2 points 25 months ago

Maybe at 720p.

PigWithAMustache 2 Builds 3 points 25 months ago

nah, it would have to be at 480p

Jalley15 1 Build 3 points 27 months ago

but can it run crisis?

cobbleking 4 points 25 months ago

Yes, but not Crysis 3.

izac.bongo 2 Builds 2 points 27 months ago

Awesome build man! I would be surprised if this doesn't get featured

paytonfarnese 2 points 27 months ago

Complete Underkill, Next time get a Better CPU like the, the uh, thee.

vfridman submitter 1 Build 5 points 27 months ago

Like 28 core Xeon. right? :)

paytonfarnese 3 points 27 months ago

$1,700 is not enough for a cpu.

Nerd2 2 points 27 months ago

Man... one of the best ever!!!

Yahtadi 2 points 27 months ago

You could run this entire Universe until the end of time sir

I actully kinda amazed for that EK Predator. How could such a small pump can push liquid so far.. Amazing

Yahtadi 2 points 27 months ago

Your CPU, Ram, Mobo and GPU are top notch. Dont forget about your Storage Configs too

vfridman submitter 1 Build 2 points 27 months ago

I agree, this Predator is doing pretty well considering it's cooling 6950X overclocked to 4.3 GHz plus two Titan X Pascals. I was not sure if it was going to cut it but it's doing fine.

Cr1ms0n 2 points 27 months ago

this build is triple X rated :3

CraftedDeath 2 points 27 months ago

Holy crap this is complet overkill for the small games a play...

PigWithAMustache 2 Builds 2 points 27 months ago

its not a gaming rig read the description

CraftedDeath 0 points 27 months ago

I know that's just what I'm building

ShriyansM 2 points 27 months ago

Why was this not featured

Anarchoprimitiv 1 Build 2 points 27 months ago

Would you mind sharing your CPU and GPU temps at idle and load? Also, do you feel like the pump in the predator could handle adding another radiator to the loop?

akula2 2 points 27 months ago

There goes 50th vote for this build, well done!

Most of my very high end machines I use for R&D purposes in Life Sciences. What exactly do you use this machine for? Whenever I see such machines I get quite inquisitive. I hope you get the RoI on it down the line...

edit: how is the case like? I'm planning to build a few more very high end ones during the holiday season.

rnbtech1 2 points 27 months ago

I noticed how you mounted the EK-Predator with the fans inside the case even though the very top of the case could be used to house the fans, but that is simply not possible with EK-Predator and the Be Quit DARK BASE PRO 900 case. Given all that, my question is do you still have enough space below the EK-Predator for another set of three 25 mm thick fans? I'm planning a build using the same case and AIO but would really like to do a push-pull config.

hifklif 1 Build 1 point 26 months ago

how is it with the sound on the top fans?

Dehriz 1 point 26 months ago

This is beautiful

1+

NationX 1 point 26 months ago

This is so crazy. I just ordered the exact same parts am waiting for the 6950x to arrive to finish the build. Will post when complete but I even used same RAM and dark base pro case, Rampage V edition 10.

In addition to the 360 predator I got the Titan X pascal EKWB GPU block and backplate pre-filled. Only big difference is that I am using the Be Quiet Power Pro 11 1200W PSU.

I only have one Pascal though. I might buy another, is the second pascal on the same predator 360 loop?

Orrubieso 1 point 26 months ago

Can it run minecraft at 60 fps?

cobbleking 1 point 25 months ago

No.

cobbleking 1 point 25 months ago

Am I the only one that noticed that he got both Windows and Ubuntu?

DylanPC 1 point 25 months ago

You have a really great pc, but then your peripherals suck, like not to be mean but your desk, mouse and keyboard.

MisterListerTheSisterFister 1 point 25 months ago

Would look better with a CaseLabs case and Acrylic Tubing, but thats really impressive still so

Here's an upvote

canfade 1 point 24 months ago

when your ram is worth more than my whole pc

Aeristirasemily 1 point 23 months ago

Man I don't think its logic to spend 10000$ for working only

Nater650 1 point 23 months ago

Why do you need 5 solid state drives

Nater650 1 point 23 months ago

Donald Trump could easily afford several of these with his whopping net worth of $4.5 BILLION

Nater650 1 point 23 months ago

Why would you need 2 keyboards and mice

Dragon4570 1 point 22 months ago

How much modification did you have to do to get that AX1500i to be able to plug in?

plzDonateAgame 1 point 20 months ago

A 10 core i7?????!!!!! I have never even HEARD of such a thing!!!!!! Not to mention the 128 gb of RAM!!!! Jesus man! What type of job do you HAVE?????? I am bamboozled right now. 10/10 IGN +1

Kylaralthor 4 Builds 1 point 17 months ago

I have that same M & K for work. Most of this build is quite near exactly what I have.

MVandenbergh 1 point 16 months ago

Very Cool. I see that you use linux. Are you able to control the mobo RGB via software in Linux?

qiUip 1 Build 1 point 16 months ago

Interesting! I’m planning on something similar actually as my main development machine. I’m working in comutational fluid dynamics though, not machine learning, but offload all the calculations to the GPUs. I also need double precision (and can’t afford a Quadro GP100!), so stuck with a Titan Z - which still beats my 1080Ti in double precision heavy workloads, and a 1070 for driving the screen and some of the smaller simulations. Got a 5960x at 4.0 (sometimes pushed to 4.4) but as that’s used mostly for post-processing and development phases (which are easier on the CPU before porting them to the GPU code) so I don’t really need to upgrade it quite yet.

Currently in a Corsair 750, but it’s getting tight and I want to add some bigger rads and redo my loop so moving to the Dark Base Pro. Surprised you are getting the CPU and 2 GPUs cool enough for high workloads on just that one 360 predator! I’m getting a bit toasty with a 360 and a 280 in my current case. Was good to get some inspiration! Nice wrok. :)

MightyGinger 1 point 14 months ago

How's the monitor? I'm looking at getting it and wanted your opinion.

cristiancl 1 point 8 months ago

How did you managed to plug the C19 connector from Corsair Ax1500i

vfridman submitter 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

It was painful but doable.

Based on my experience when using these GPUs for machine learning single Pascal GPU is about 50% faster than single Maxwell. I'm not sure what is the difference for gaming.

Lyrix 1 point 27 months ago

wow! 1+! i just bought this case really love it!

FarawayThrower 1 point 24 months ago

For gaming, the Pascal is about that much more powerful.

MasonMac 0 points 27 months ago

I believe the pascal is the best GPU on the market for its price. You could prob get like over 200-300 fps on 1080p gta v or something

FarawayThrower 1 point 24 months ago

Pascal isn't the best for it's price on the market, considering price for performance the RX 480 may take that spot.

vfridman submitter 1 Build 1 point 27 months ago

I first tried Corsair H115i. It worked but top CPU temperatures under load were too high, so I got the Predator. It cools pretty well, much better than Corsair but it's bulky. There are not many cases of this size it will fit.

vfridman submitter 1 Build 1 point 27 months ago

I have 2 older machines with full custom loops. I guess this time I got a bit lazy and went with Predator.
