Description

So maybe you are wondering, "Why would anyone throw up a build from 2009?" Why? Because this baby is about to have her five year old b-day and she is still going strong! The invoice date from newegg is 1/2/2009. I remember reading an article at the time that showed off this build (couldn't find the article), and my family and I had already cut the cable and were using an old machine with Windows Media Center. So I ordered these parts and installed Win 7 along with Boxee (RIP). These days she is still running Win 7 with XBMC. Selecting a file in XBMC pops open VLC full screen for playback, and Blu-rays are also played through VLC. She still plays all file types in 720P and 1080P content beautifully. We control the computer with an old iPhone 3G with hippo remote, and even my five year old can do it. So what is next? The current plan is to throw in a new graphics card and get ready for Steam OS (upon release). Thanks for checking it out! Before people blow it up, Cable management: Ain't nobody got room for that! (At least not in this case)

It may be about time to blow the dust out of that machine.

Was already about to do just that, but I figured I'd make this post since I was going to open it. Trust me, she has gone longer between cleanings than this :)

On my primary rig (which will soon go to my wife since I am about to build a new one... more to come soon), I have taken the time for cable management. Like I said, it isn't a time issue in this case as much as it is a "no room for it at all" case. Things are mostly out of the way for air flow, but I rarely do anything inside this case. It sits there running and does its job day after day.
