Description

The parts list includes most of the accessories and such in my setup like displays and speakers.

The pictures are slightly outdated (using a different GPU).

Update 2014/06/29: Updated to Mavericks (OS X 10.9) and replaced the Vertex 4 128gb with a new EVO 840 250gb and added another 2tb hard drive.

I just realized, the prodigy kind of looks like a mini old mac pro.

Excuse me for asking, but how much more benefit does the $400+ OCZ SSD provide over say, a $150 prices SSD? Is it really that much more beneficial for speed?

There is no benefit. Samsung 840 Pro is better value and delivers same performance with better reliability.

When i built this, the SSD listed was about $120 and was the best performance SSD I could find in that size.

When you install mac osx, is it the same as installing a windows os or do y ou need special drivers?

I actually just did a reinstall with a new SSD (need to update list). I installed both OSX and Windows. If you do the mac install the normal average way, its very easy and there are a lot of guides out there. The "drivers" or as they are called in mac, Kexts (kernel extension) and other patches are generally installed with one utility after install of the OS and after that you are pretty much set. I find it to be even less time and hassle than all the drivers you have to install on Windows, even the graphics drivers are already in OSX a lot of the time. I would suggest looking at this website to get into hackintosh: http://www.tonymacx86.com/home.php
