Description

Built for gaming. Haven't tested FPS or any of that. I overclocked to 3.8 from 3.4 and didn't notice any temperature problems. I've been running Hitman Absolution, Battlefield 3 and Civ 5 on Ultra settings and didn't notice any choppy gameplay. My only issue is what I figured would be and that is the size of the SSD. I'm pretty much at capacity and haven't installed FarCry 3 or Shogun 2. I'll probably end up just waiting for a good sale on them on NewEgg and pick up another one so I don't have to worry about installing and uninstalling programs all the time. System boot time before I filled up the SSD was around 7 seconds. Now, it is probably closer to 20 seconds (I've also noticed that when I overclock it that adds to startup time as well, which I don't really understand). However, once running the machine is exceptionally fast. I've certainly never had a PC this fast.

Also, while this motherboard has 2 USB 3.0 slots on it, there are no connectors to add any on the board. So I have two dead USB 3.0 slots on the front of my case. Poor planning I guess.

So fo you think for my next build I should get like a 40 gb ssd just for my OS just so it never slows down boot time? Thanks for the tip and great build!

I am ordering another 120gb samsung ssd off of newegg right now so i'll have to update the build. I have Windows 7 Professional installed and it took up close to 50gb of space so i'm not sure 40 would be enough. Though I have heard of compressing Windows to take up alot less space than normal. I, however, feel like i'm not tech savvy enough to try everything involved and not mess up system. Samsung SSD has a program optimize the OS and it does free up some space.

Nice build! I would have gone with intel for gaming, though. Other than that, good job!

I thought about it, but for the price I had gotten the phenom at, it was tough to say no. Just so I know, what Intel processor would be comparable to the phenom and how much would it be?
