Description

Its awesome, most of the parts are new except a few peripherals from my old PC. I bought the parts on black Friday so it saved me a ton of money.

Get that sub off your desk son. Put it on the floor where it belongs.

Decent build. Thought I'd make a note of something:

your on board audio: ALC892 Output: 24-Bit, 192KHz, 97dB Input: 24-Bit, 192KHz, 90dB

compared to your:

Creative Labs Audigy SEChannels 7.1 Sample Rate 96KHz - Digital Audio 24-bit

There nearly is no difference. Many people don't know that in order for you to gain greater audio performance over a lot of the newer on board Audio chips you need atleast a $50+ audio card + $100 Headphones or more expensive speakers to even be able to hear the difference. Do you need a sound card

what do you mean by art?

It means they have a wacom tablet on the desk. One that's shoved over by their gaming keyboard.

what does it do, like edit pictures and stuff?

A wacom tablet is a pressure sensitive drawing pad. It basically tries to deliver an as real to actual drawing experience as possible. The harder you press the darker the line or the thicker. It can be used to make matte paintings (like video game covers) sketching ideas etc. Thier definately handy.

No K on the i7? =(

Well since the unlocked version of this cpu is $200 more, it's not exactly worth the money unless you're doing very cpu heavy tasks. And the lack of a K suffix doesn't mean you can't overclock it, it just means it has a locked multiplier, which means you can overclock it, but only to a certain point.

By $200 more version, I think you're referring to the i7 3930k, which is a 6-core, and this is only a quad-core.

The 3820 is technically a 6 core with two of the cores locked, although they can be unlocked.

I didn't know Intel would allow that to be unlocked... very interesting...

Well technically Intel doesn't allow that to be unlocked, and it will void the warranty, but with some tweaking it can be done.

I was referring to the 3770K, which is $320. I thought the 3820 had a K version, but I guess I just got confused.

The 3770k isn't as powerful as the 3820, and by the unlocked version of this cpu, I meant the 3930k.

It is unlocked, because it's sandy bridge-e.

Very interesting configuration. Can you give the price break down like the way that I have given on my build(see my completed build). I can send you an excel sheet of you are lazy to make one. You can just plug in your numbers, get the image and upload it. What is the total cost for you out of pocket for this machine(indicate the parts that you have used from your old comp separately)

Well rounded IMO, but that 670... is fine. We ran some benches a while back and the 680 is hardly any better. The 7970 on the other hand is a beast comparatively.

X79 is a good idea. Lots of upgradeability.
