Build

Arthas (13 year old's first build)

by ryguylax528

Description

Hello everyone, My name is Ryan and this is my first build. I am 13 years old so it was very hard to make money for this build. It is all my money and i worked very hard on this build. I did about 4 months of research on building computers. This is my very Pride and Joy. I love this computer it works great. I have not had a chance to install battlefield 4 yet but i will come back with benchmarks later! The name Arthas is a Sanskrit term meaning "purpose, cause, motive, meaning, notion, wealth, economy or gain". It refers to the idea of material prosperity. In Hinduism, Artha is one of the four goals of life

I got the Vapor-x Card and it is so amazing runs at about 20 C idle and 25 C while gaming

I know my Monitor sucks i'm getting a new one soon!

Next time, a modular PSU might help. A lot. Other than that it's great!

That looks like a challenging case to work in for a first build-- good job getting it all together! It looks like your research paid off well. Cool name too. You're going to love your computer so much more when you get your new monitor.

Nice build!

Even if you can't do anything with the cables you should just say you know instead of just saying you don't want to hear about it.

Well, anyway it's a nice build. What FPS are you getting in games with that 270x?

EDIT: Just saw that you haven't installed BF4. Have you played anything else yet?

ryguylax528 submitter 1 Build 1 point 61 months ago

I am installing BF4 atm but in games like counter strike and smite i am getting well over 200 fps i will come back to you with BF4 benchmarks.

I have a basically identical system. You should be able to run at 1080p 60+FPS on Ultra mostly with maybe shadows turned down a bit. High is a constant 70+FPS for me. Couldn't believe it when I booted it up! Good luck

Ok, great.

On a 270X, hell no man... You should be getting around 55...

His monitor isnt 1080p, so it will run better at a lower resolution

The modular Silverstone Striders are really nice for the prodigy - only 140mm deep and have an optional short cable kit, all very nicely sleeved.

Mate, should've gotten the Asus H87I-PLUS as you can do a non-z overclock - I don't know if you can with your Gigabyte 'board. I have the same GPU but it's a Gigabyte one, how's it running?

ryguylax528 submitter 1 Build 1 point 61 months ago

My card runs great i get about 70 fps on ultra on BF4

Reconmidget 1 point 52 months ago

Is that cable management?!? Surely not!

Reconmidget 1 point 52 months ago

A Perrix MX-3000 is better and cheaper!

Not too shabby for a first build. I know you don't want to hear about cable management but it's very important for airflow. Pick up some zip ties at Walmart to try to get some out of the way. It will dramatically improve cooling and longevity of the system. Keep building, buddy! :D

I wouldn't of gone with Windows 8, just because I'm not a fan and I don't believe its fully figured out yet. You could of picked up Windows 7/8 cheaper from eBay, its what I did earlier this year, nothing dodgy about it.

Like everyone else would say, be sure to dedicate some time with that cable management! And, considering that's a mini ITX tower, i'd say its really important. Just use zipties to round some cables up as well, none the less, really nice build.

One more thing, in the 4th pic, your power supply doesn't look like its in correctly, are you sure you got that right? Seems wonky to me.
