Description

This was my first HTPC build and was my first time building a custom pc in about 14-15 years. Really wanted something to just watch saved movies that I had on my network based Seagate Go Flex.

Prices are low due to buying off eBay....

memory: when building this pc I lucked up on memory, my brother had just purchased a Macbook Pro and upgraded his memory from 4 to 8 gb's. Since the mobo uses laptop memory, I used the 4gb and added to system.

hard drive: used old 2.5 inch 250gb laptop hard drive that I had laying from a upgrade (matter fact it was drives I got off PS3 before upgrading PS3 to 1TB).

This build is connected to my Denon surround sound via HDMI, hooked into blu-ray port.......equals easy access....

I am not sure about the actually speed and temperature of computer since I have not bench marked as yet, but I can say it is running really quiet, can hardly hear fan or anything, boost up in about 25-30 seconds.

Overall was easy build, took about an hour, took time to make sure I did everything right.

Future upgrades: maybe add msata and use correct drive as extra storage.....and maybe add blue-ray player (will have to change os in order to view)

Now on to my next project, in process on drawing up specs of new music production pc, that will be my next build......

Don't see many "thin" ITX builds. Nicely done.

Great to see something unique like this. Is that OS easy to configure and use?

Easiest way to explain OpenElec is Linux with XBMC as it's only interface (not including the shell prompt of course). With properly supported hardware, it's no harder to use than just XBMC itself as the rest of the OS can be ignored for the most part.
