Part Reviews

CPU

Doesn't come with any cooler, which is fine. There are higher value CPUs currently on the market.

CPU Cooler

Crazy quiet, not the best value.

Motherboard

I was scared of this MB, especially sound, but it works just fine even under heavier loads.

Memory

Cheapest 2x16GB RAMs on Amazon I could find with a one-day shipping. Have a bit of extra fanciness on them.

Video Card

The "Blower" edition. Found it for $449 on Amazon. Not planning on overclocking it, noise is fine. Playing Dauntless @1080 & Epic details very smoothly.

Case

Amazing value. Was scared based on online reviews, but the case is filter noise pretty good.

Power Supply

The build will be just fine with 500W but didn't want it to be sweating it and an extra room should contribute to longer life. Thermaltake has some bad rap on previous models, but these should be fine. Will get back to you in 3 years.

If you just use this pc for gaming then why use 32 gb RAM?

BetrayedPredator 1 point 5 months ago

Yeah this isn't exactly a logical 'value' build

8700k doesn't perform much better than the 8600k, so it makes sense to get the 8600k for gaming.

120mm AIO are never worth it in a full size case

PSU isn't exactly good

Founder's edition of a GPU

32gb of RAM is never worth is unless you do heavy video editing>

And the 970 pro doesn't do much for the average build since you will never see max speeds

I didn't even look at most of the parts, just the 32gb of RAM,

now that you point it out tho...

You guys are right, updated the name.

I spent a lot of time in PhotoShop, Illustrator, AfterEffects, Premier (because of my job) and it supposed to be a primary reason to build new PC (and the only way how my wife will approve new computer :)

the i7 8700k is recommended to have 32GB of memory to run well.
