Description

Finished a while ago, but now getting around to uploading pictures. No pictures of final resting space just because my space is cluttered.

Motherboard: My brother bought this for me, so now I had to find components to fit this. He's the reason that my build was more expensive than I initially wanted it to be. (And no, I wasn't going to sell it for a cheaper board).

CPU: I participated in the Intel Retail Edge program and got this one about half off. If I had received a non x99 motherboard, I would have definitely purchased the i7-4790k.

Memory: Got this at a good price. Checked reviews and everything is solid. No complaints here.

Storage: I originally was going to have 2 drives, but when I saw that I could load my OS on a M.2 SSD (which my board does support), I went for it Samsung XP941. Works very well!!

Video Card: I bought this before the whole debacle happened. I don't really do high end gaming, but it's good for everything else.

Case: I love the room in this thing. Cable management is a breeze!

Fans: Definitely super quiet.

Power supply: Perfect for what I need it for. May upgrade later, but only if I get a higher powered video card (or SLI my current one). Even still, I think it will be under the threshold.

All in all, everything went in smoothly and started up perfectly. I will definitely build my computers from now on. I find it to be a good time waster (in a good way).

Great build. +1. Love the setup. You might want to fix the typo in your description where you say that it's an i7-4970k instead of a 4790k. You make me really want an M.2 SSD now.

Thanks for the input! Changed the typo.

I have a dedicated slot for it in my motherboard and I can use the supplied PCIE card for another M.2 slot if needed. This board is pretty sweet for sure.

Hold on one quick second..... Your brother brought you a X99 motherboard but you were thinking of a Z97 build??

Wow, that takes some nerve............ Can you let him know I need to update my HD 7850 ??

Great build and this system should last a long, long time

You are using the M.2 , a SSD and a HDD...... So, how fast is it??

Really nice looking build.... What do you use it for?

My brother just looked at my amazon wishlist (the "fun" one, which I know everyone has) and bought it for me for Christmas. Then I realized I needed DDR4 RAM. And the 2011 intel socket. Ugh. So yeah, I spent a bit now but I know it will last a long time. Oh, and I'll let him know about your graphics card ;)

The M.2 is just for the OS and drivers. SSD is for games and stuff I use frequently while the HDD is for long time storage. Boots up very quickly and nicely. Once the prices finally start going down on high SSD storage, I will replace the HDD with one or possible of them. I hate the clicking noise and it's really noticeable since my fans are super quiet.

I just wanted a PC to last me a while. And I know everything is upgradable.

Really nice build but how did you get the reference NVidia graphics card just from NVidia.

Just wondering

Got it through Best Buy. I think they are the only ones who carry it.

No (don't listen to rap...pure metalist here). It's just a machine that cost me more money than I expected to put in it. :)
