Description

I promised a good friend of mines, that i would build him a rig if he bought all the peripherals and Windows for himself. He fulfilled his end of the bargain and i fulfilled mines, he requested that it be red and white.

So i bought him the NZXT Phantom 410 because it was absolutely gorgeous and eyecatching, but also offered upgradability in"case" he intends beef up his system later. Originally i planned to get him a Nvidia GTX 760 that i saw refurbished at MicroCenter, sadly i did not plan ahead and the power supply lacked 2, 6 pin pcie connectors, so that went into my rig and i gave him my 260x instead.

So I began assembling the rig, and it became apparent to me, that i absolutely lack cable management skills. I should have bought a power supply with separate PCIE connectors that would have helped alot with redundant and unnecessary cables.

Finishing everything up, I Posted successfully, and began to install the OS and drivers. At one point after i finished installing all of the necessary drivers. I played a round of chess, i nearly had checkmate but the computer froze. I performed a fresh reinstall of Windows 7 but it did nothing, i think i might have gotten a faulty power supply.

(the boot screens were customized using software obtained online)

Enabling Fast boot and other options on my MoBo and SSD, i was able to obtain a 10 sec boot.

I agree with the previous comment. It's not about how much power the rig draws. PSUs work the best, at their most efficient state, when the maximum power draw of the system is around 50-60% of the PSU power. Otherwise you might have power unstability, and most importantly an electric bill up the roof, considering how much we use our gaming rigs :-)

Yeah gotcha' I just get aggy when I see them, 430 is my trigger number.

TRIGGERED

Triggering intensifies

Why? If 430 watts makes you antsy, people have ran a g3258 with a 750 ti with a 160 watt pico PSU. A picopsu is as big as the 24 pin connector that fits in the motherboard, and has a basic laptop power brick on the outside of the case.

edit: Link

pretty much, its ideal for those really small itx cases like the minibox m350. But it's nice even if you have a regular mini itx case because it eliminates the bulk of an atx psu.

I guess because I build 1337 gaming systems that I look at around 550+ for my rigs.

PC looks good, the name is a bit iffy thought. I would replace that CPU cooler, the blue sticker is killing the red feel of the rig. Have you don't any overclocking yet?

I originally had a different cpu cooler. The damned bracket got int the way of the ram. I tryed dremeling a piece of the bracket off, but it still would not fit snugly.. QWQ

I would paint the stock cooler red. Also great budget build man.

I guess but i would worry about the paint acting as an insulator. I originally had a different cooler.

You could probably get a cheap aftermarket cooler for this rig but otherwise great budgeting and not half bad looking too!

Thanks biggles, yea i penny pinched quite a bit and originally i had bought a cooler. But the bracket got in the way of my ram. I tryed modifying it with a dremel, but it still would not fit. Cheers~

Seems to be a pretty common problem.
