Description

WOW! Thank you so much for the Feature! All of your awesome builds were my inspiration!

This started as I was planning to upgrade my first workstation build I made in 2007, but I decided I would start a whole new build from scratch. I’m not a gamer myself, but my spouse is, so I thought this rig would be something that we would both enjoy, and maybe I would become a gamer too. I took me about 3 months until I got it completely done, doing research on the parts I wanted, reading lots of reviews and looking at other people’s awesome builds here at pcpartpicker as well as listening to suggestions of the fellow members of Computer Enthusiasts Master Race CEMR. The hardest parts to get was the GPU as I was literally hunting down for one for almost two months. I really don’t know about photography and I just used my phone’s camera, so please excuse my regular looking photos, also be aware that English is not my first language. Taking outdoors photos was not a pleasant experience, not only because of the Florida heat (90+) but also due to mosquitoes biting me and getting inside the case, LOL. I don’t know how to do reviews, but I’ll just make brief comments about some of the parts in the order I purchased them.

CPU This was the first component I got. At first I purchased a 6700, but then I learned that the 6700K was the one I should get if I wanted to overclock, so I returned the 6700 and purchased the unlocked one. I watched YouTube videos and read articles about overclocking but I was able to overclock it to 4.7GHz with 1.31v. Excellent performance.

CASE I honestly didn’t know about the Phanteks brand but I fell in love with it when I watched some video reviews. Had to preorder from Newegg at that time (06-07-16). This is the best looking case, build with great quality and plenty of space. I was new to cable management and that was the hardest part for me to do. Because of the glass panels, I had to make sure that it looked nice not only on front but also in the back. I liked the lighting system so I added 2 of the 2M LED strips and an adapter to connect it to the RGB headers on the ROG Maximus VIII Hero Alpha. Did I say this case is gorgeous? I love it!

MOTHERBOARD I didn’t have any favorite brand, but I chose this one because of the RGB headers. I think I should have gotten the Formula that has more USB ports, but then I got a 4-Port USB 3.0 PCI Express card so now I’m good.

PSU I chose EVGA because of the excellent warranty. At first I purchased the G2-1300 but then I changed it for the P2-1000 because of the ECO Mode feature that makes it very quiet. This is my first fully modular PSU and that helps a lot for cable management.

CPU COOLER I purchased the H115i, but I couldn’t get a proper fit inside the case (I was able to use only 2 screws to the right of the rad), the rest of the holes didn’t align to the ones on the case. I returned it and got the H100i and it fits perfectly and keep the CPU at great temps. I didn’t use the fans that come with it (I heard they are not really quiet).

CASE FANS I chose the Thermaltake RIING fans because of the RGB Lighting. I got three of the 3-Fan sets (1 set of 140mm, and 2 sets of 120mm). The rad is between a pair of 140mm fans and a pair of 120mm fans (push/pull). Three 120mm are mounted on top of the case (exhaust) and one 140mm fans is mounted in the back (exhaust). The RGB light controllers (3) are mounted the under the top of the case on top of the three exhaust fans. The only downside to these fans is that the lighting can’t be controlled with a software but only with the controllers provided; I have to take the top of the case off whenever I feel like changing the colors of the fan lighting.

MONITORS I got the LG 4K monitors on sale ($397 each, shipped and no tax from Adorama). They’re 60Hz but for the price I decided to go for them and I don’t regret it. They’re great.

GPU This was the hardest part to get. I chose the Strix over the other GTX-1080 variants because it’s one of the best looking ones, and also because it comes already overclocked and has two HDMI ports. I connected the monitors to the Display Ports, and my 47inch TV to one of the HDMI ports. I still have one HDMI port available for a VR headset in the future.

Thanks for your feedback.

By far the best cable mgmt i've ever seen.

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 7 points 9 months ago

Thanks. It took me a lot of patience, but it's worth it!

mandreko 1 Build 5 points 8 months ago

Would you ever add a picture showing detail as to how you hid all the cables so elegantly? I'd love to imitate it on my next build since I'll be doing the same case. I looked at every image, and still have no idea how you did some of the sexiness.

Javanode 1 Build 5 points 9 months ago

Because he used wireless power. It's a trick.

thejokster1 10 points 9 months ago

Wow this is probably one of the best builds I've seen on this site. And also I think strix is the best looking 1080/1070 model out there

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thank you!

pimpshrimp247 7 points 9 months ago

Really cool build, the lighting looks great! can I up vote this again??? Holy **** that's a lot of storage space!!

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thank you! =)

Little_Weeaboo -3 points 9 months ago

If you look there are builds that have way more I saw one a long time ago with like 25 tb of storage

KYBL 6 points 9 months ago

Holy cable management Batman!

Seriously though, amazing job with this build. Probably the best back panel cable management I've ever seen.

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Thank you, man!

bevil 4 points 9 months ago

You just saved me from returning my Phanteks case. I got the exact same one from amazon. When I opened the box, the box showed the NON-Tempered glass. Thinking "oh heck, they sent me the wrong one". Saw your pics, made me open up the box entirely. It is the tempered glass version!

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

LOL. Same thing happened to me. I thought they had sent me the wrong one, but I took it out just to make sure. I got mine @ Newegg.

technobreakafobe 1 Build 3 points 9 months ago

Oo. So clean. +10

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thanks, man!

le_cram 3 points 9 months ago

Very nice and very clean. Simply love it. I also built in this case and the first thing I noticed on you photos is, that the "Phanteks Vecro" on the back are the right way in your case. Did you manualy change them or did they fix this only negative thing I could find in my case :D

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Thank you! LOL. I know what you mean. I donm't know why they made them like that. I couldn't stand those velcro strips upside down, so I fixed them!

Iceman320 1 Build 3 points 9 months ago

Do you have OCD? because by golly that cable management is insanely good. +1

Added note: your up close Macro like photos are spectacular and some of them I just don't know how you got those angles, you either have a very good tiny camera or insanely flexible wrists XD

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 3 points 9 months ago

LOL, I actually don't, but I got inspired by those awesome builds in here. The way this case is designed, allowed me to do a nice cable management. It took me quite some time and patience though (I had to undo it and redo it several times). I actually had to be a bit of a contortionist to get some of those pics. I took them with a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Thank you for your feedback!

Iceman320 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Wow the s7 edge has a beast of a camera, didn't know it was that good :o that's really impressive.

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Yeah, I took the photos on automatic mode, but I'm pretty sure if you tweak the camera settings on Manual mode, it would take even better photos. The LG-V10 has a great camera also.

Iceman320 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

I think I need an upgrade :/ (still on an s4 mini)

desert_freeze 3 points 8 months ago

Great build bud.

Had a question, did you connect the fans to the headers on the mobo or the PWM hub that came with the case?

I see that you've taken the hub off the back, but I tried following your cables through the pics, and I can't see where you've connected the H100i. Especially, since your CPU_FAN port seems to have something (the hub maybe?) connected to it before you install the H100i.

faithbr1ng3r 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Loving it. +1

Have the same build and same case i believe. Great choice

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Yeah, that case is awesome! I fell in love at first sight!

very nice build +1

captainmcfunk 2 Builds 2 points 9 months ago

Absolutely beautiful! I clicked through all 89 pictures, great job! Mine is built in the same case, but with some older parts. My goodness the case is beautiful!

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thank you, man!

Maliken 2 points 9 months ago

That cable management is unreal, easily the best I've seen and I'm sure it looks even better with that case. On that note though, I plan to get the same case and was wondering if cable extensions are necessary or would standard length CPU power cables (about 70cm I think) be able to make the run you have from the power supply to the CPU power connector.

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Thank you, man! I think you would be okay with the cables that come with the PSU. I really didn't try that way because I had already planned to use the extensions, and they certainly make cable management easier. I did have to hide some portions of the standard cables under the hard drive bay.

rpcollanton 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

I honestly want to know what your inspiration behind the cable management was. Did you plan ahead? I can't even find all of the cables! That is the way it should be.

bmbhomie 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

This is an amazing build, I was waiting for someone to come along and do a 1080 strix build and make it look beautiful. You did a damn good job man! Upvoted!

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Thank you man! I was between the Strix and the FTW, but deep inside I was rooting for the Strix LOL. I'm glad I got it after hunting it down for so long!

LuxLikeFun 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

What Dual Monitor mount is that?

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

That's a mount I found on sale @ Amazon for USD$30 about 3 months ago. I didn't include it on the parts list because it belonged to my previous build.

LuxLikeFun 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Do you know the exact name? The one I was looking at was $60.

WeirdoMcBeardo 2 points 9 months ago

You. Win.

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Thank you!

arda1907 2 Builds 2 points 9 months ago

how do you like the thermaltake fans are they loud ?

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Not at all, they don't only look great but also they're really quiet. I honestly didn't have a chance to test the ones that come with the case or the ones that come with the AIO CPU cooler, I just mounted the Riings right away.

Ubiquibuild 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Great work. We share a very similar build (https://au.pcpartpicker.com/b/BGKZxr) but you have shown me a new level to take this to. Thank you for sharing your build :) +1

Ubiquibuild 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Really well, actually. CPU Core average temp = 24c GPU - 28c PSU - 29c

Techy_John 2 points 9 months ago

Question!! hows the G900 feel iw as thinking about getting it but people say its bad?

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

I think is awesome, it feels very comfortable, has a nice weight, it's wireless/wired and ambidextrous (my spouse is a leftie). I had gotten the G502 first, but I was pressing the side buttons by accident all the time.

Techy_John 1 point 9 months ago

yeah i have the G502 and its great cuz i have small/medium hands but idk the cord is a huge pain but thanks a bunch

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Wow! Thank you man! I appreciate it! =)

I hate split-tube looming, but damn it makes things look nice. Excellent build and holy pictures Batman! +1

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thank you Sully617. I agree. I will definitely continue exploring different options to make my cable management cleaner.

Sully617 1 point 9 months ago

I don't really think that's needed given your end product, but hey, if nothing else I learned something about what I like in finished builds. :) So thanks for that!

Design1stcode2nd 3 Builds 2 points 9 months ago

Cable management god! Cable combs on the back of the system, the back............you sir have dedication...or OCD, either way an awesome build!

ThunderCls 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Gorgeous Build, excelent parts choice and very very sexy :o and thanks for the bunch of pics ;) +1

Gooplux 2 points 9 months ago

Has the Mobo given you any troubles at all, im thinking about getting it and i want to know what people think.

eH_7960X 2 points 9 months ago

Incredible Build! +1 I love the 1080/1070 and now 1060 STRIX cards, and - of course - the Enthoo Evolv, because, lets face it, its the sexiest case out there.

The only thing I would say to change is to make the cable sleeving either all white or all black, just so that any RGB combination wouldn't clash, but that's up to you :)

Great build either way!

MLE_Wonderboy 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

That's one clean build. And so sexy!

Mr_Majestic 2 points 9 months ago

I was able to overclock it to 4.7 MHz

Thats a pretty ****** overclock :P. (Unless of course you mean 4.7 GHz :)

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Lol. You're right. It's been corrected.

CanadianGam3R 2 points 9 months ago

This build is Fan-tastic!! (I know, its not funny) But really great build man. Your cable management is on point and I love the fact that you took the time to take all these great picture. Anyways amazing job, hope you are happy with your pc and setup :) +1

AW1018 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

reading through the long list of parts gave me plenty of time to plan my wallet's funeral

death9251 2 points 8 months ago

OH YOUR GOD! O.O lol jkjk. It is the pertiest thing i ever did see. it is a work of art and looks great and is probably aloty of fun in the dark to be around while in a game late at night. (new nightlight right?)

all fun aside it is a work of art and I have yet to see something this well put together in a very long time. +1 man it is well worthit just asthetically pleasing as well.

but on a serious note how much do you want if i ask you to remake it lol. I'll pay you just I want 2 1080's...seriously.

WaggishCrowd80 2 points 7 months ago

beautiful build a even more impressive dat cable mangment do

dinoking 1 Build 2 points 6 months ago

How do you fit the 280m rad at the front of the case without removing the panel above the hdd? I can't fit mine without removing the panel.

DrEduardo 1 Build 2 points 6 months ago

With this money you can buy a lovely small house where live. Well...that but, Im pretty sure I will buy this pc insted. Perfect build. +1

Enercuber 2 points 6 months ago

Personally I wouldn't take a $4600 gaming PC outside...

Jordan84792 2 points 5 months ago

A truely beautiful PC. Very good components, very good cable management.

However, I feel like you ****** up with the monitors, don't you want to be able to see more than 60fps? Maybe 144 Hertz would have been a better choice?

WhoIsJoji 2 points 4 months ago

i came

Adrian001 2 points 1 month ago

Seriously the colours man.....the colours. That looks fly. Just gorgeous. 10/10 on the first picture

teslatz68 2 points 1 month ago

This is some of the cleanest cable routing ever.

Very nice, finally a build where i get all the pictures i like to see amazing how the dragons reflect on the tempered glass

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

outstanding build! this build needs to be featured! a lot ppl have really nice builds but dont put up enough pictures to cover the entire scope of the build. lighting, cable management, attention to detail. +1

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Thank you! It just made it to Featured Build!

Wolklung 1 point 9 months ago

Superb. Love pics 31-35. With the panels off all lit up looks like its going into overdrive and about to teleport to another dimension.

Nexts 1 point 9 months ago

Very amazing build, good job! This color on case is black?

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thank you. It's the Anthracite Gray.

archlinuxos 4 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

This is a sick build. It looks absolutely amazing. I just looked through every picture as was like "wow, holy S*** that's awesome". The ONLY gripe I have is the highly negative airflow... just make sure that you have everything nice and dust filtered!

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thanks. I was thinking there were too many pics. I have the rad sandwiched between push/pull fans, it seems to be working fine!

CharlieInstrall 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Looks at my PC with the side panel off in order to stop overheating. Looks at this thing of beauty Goes to corner Cri's in corner +1, amazing.

Paloro 1 point 9 months ago

Nice build.

I've been contemplating on going to 4k for photo editing purposes, but was concerned with the 27" making everything else too small. How has your experience been?

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thanks. Windows automatically up-scaled to 150%. It looks pretty good to me! Haven't had much chance to really test editing software yet. (I do audio and some video editing)

Trinergy 6 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

Beautiful build and great pictures and I especially love the rear cable management. What attention to detail. Only critique I have is your decision to put the CPU cooler on the front instead of top? The GPU is going to get all the hot air from the CPU cooler and then blow even more hot air all around after its done with it. Which makes the fans run faster, which leads to more noise. If the case provided you with a fan below the GPU it wouldn't have been as bad. If you have a filtered intake up top for the CPU cooler I would mount it as an intake there. If the case is not filtered there then making it an exhaust is not an issue either as the fans you move to the front of the case will get you cool air. One for the CPU and one for the GPU.

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

It's very important what you said, so far the push/pull setup for the rad seems to be working fine, but I'll keep an eye on those temps and will absolutely make changes if necessary. I appreciate your feedback. Thanks! :)

Trinergy 6 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

No problem. My systems used to scream till I understood the difference between air flow and air blow. Now noise and heat is not a problem.

rpcollanton 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

What Trinergy said is extremely important, and worth considering. However, in my case (Corsair Air 240), I have the same setup with the rad in front and a 970 sitting right behind it. Never get temperatures that are even worth knowing, nor does the computer make any noise. You may not get any problems - I think that it is dependent on what you're using the rig for. If there aren't many tasks you do that draw heavily from both CPU and GPU at the same time, you will most likely be okay :)

ZSURage 1 point 7 months ago

If you take a look at https://au.pcpartpicker.com/b/BGKZxr this guy build is pretty similar. The major difference is he has his rad on top and his GPU is actually at 80 under load rather than 77. Which would be better? I'm building in the same case with same rad and I'm not sure which configuration to go for.

Trinergy 6 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

It's basically a compromise. So it depends on what you do. If you play games that make the GPU run full tilt then you probably want to make sure that there is good cold air blowing to it so that it doesn't run the fans as hard. The loudest thing in a computer is usually the GPU fans. Full tilt many of them run past 3000 RPM. So if it is important to you then mount up top. Then you have a choice to either suck in cool air up top and exhaust out back or exhaust air out the case. If you have some high CFM fans up front and your CPU is not the one that gets taxed during whatever you do then it is probably a good setup. However, with three exhausts you just have to make sure that the intakes on the front can keep up with both the CPU and GPU fan's CFMs.

For me this why two fan AIO coolers are just not worth it. You have to compromise one or the other. At that point I get a quality air cooler (for less) that doesn't make anywhere near as much noise and doesn't compromise air flow or cooling for either GPU or CPU. Full loops are different as you are also cooling the GPU.

Bottom line is test it. Use something HWINFO to see what max temps and fan speeds are if connected to the motherboard and run the apps you use. Then change it and test again.

Stefanfury 1 point 9 months ago

Wow nice build !!Hmm 77 C under load?Isn't to much for that build ?U have Asus strix and I see there is a good free space maybe the case doesn't have hood airflow?

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thanks, man! That's the maximum temp I got last night when I ran Time Spy. What range of temps would be proper for my build? This is my first gaming rig, so I'm still getting familiar with gaming. overclocking, benching, etc. I will definitely continue my research and make changes accordingly.

Stefanfury 1 point 9 months ago

With those specs : Best GPU around , cool looking case with so much fans it should be around 70 C in worst case but...Maybe your room temperature is high dkn.

ZSURage 1 point 7 months ago

If you take a look at https://au.pcpartpicker.com/b/BGKZxr this guy build is pretty similar. The major difference is he has his rad on top and his GPU is actually at 80 under load rather than 77. Hey guys! Thank you all for your feedback. I'm a little busy at work so I'm not able to answer each of your comments right now, but I promise I'll do it once I get home later. ;)

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

LMAO! You just made my build blush.

Dayum!! That cable management tho!

What is that tubing you use for the sata power and sata cables?

Sweet man, thanks :)

Awesome job on the build again, you deserve the feature :)

Thank you, man! I appreciate it. =)

Aguy12 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Wow, it's just amazing. I just started getting into gaming PCs and have only built one. This is the best build I have ever seen before.

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thank you, man! I appreciate your feedback.

dphillips157 1 point 9 months ago

qq what did u use to light up the area behind ur desk (purple light)

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

It maybe be the reflection of the LEDs inside the case.

Feardis 1 point 9 months ago

Very nice and very well done! Congrats

Only thing though... I'm not sure if you plan to go 3 WAY + SLI with you're 1080 but your PSU is WAY overpower imo. 1000 / 1300 are expensive... Fine if you have 3-4 WAY Sli and have the budget to go in that direction.

Single 1080 Bare minimum 500W, ideally 550W to 600W and in your case 600W to 650W because of the overclock. Dual 1080 Bare minimum 700W, ideally 750W to 800W and 800W to 850W for OC'ers

As for the thermal compound choice. Given the fact you invested a lot of money in such build and that you are actually overclocking, I would have gone with either "Gelid Solution GC-Extreme" or the newest king on the block "Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut". See here http://prntscr.com/bxksdh

Cheers !

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thanks for your feedback. My Strix is actually feeling very lonely, I might get her some company in the near future ;)

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

And thanks for the suggestion on the thermal compound. I'll take a look at it.

convertedconsolegamer_92 2 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

Well deserved feature!

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thank youuu!

Tooth 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

This is a first for me, I actually looked at ALL of the 89 pictures. What got my interest early on was the precision of your colored cables............

the quality, condition, or fact of being exact and accurate. = precision

That tells me you did your research and took many hours to get your build your way. No shortcuts, done right.

Congrats, I just loved your cables :)

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thank you. I appreciate your feedback! You got that right. I just wanted some red accents here and there, that's why not all the cables are red. I specially like how the GPU's power cable turned out.

Shakaron 3 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

Looks cool, must have been fun to build.

I also have a question: Why 4 storage? I guess the HDD is for data. But why 3 SSDs? How are they configured, what's their purpose.

Congrats again. :)

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thanks, man. The 240GB SDD is for the OS. I was actually looking for one more SSD, but the 960GB Sandisk were on sale @ Amazon for such a good price that I decided to get 2. One of them for games, and the other one for current projects I'm working on (video and audio editing, web design, etc.) The 5TB HDD is mainly for archiving media and old files and finished projects.

Shakaron 3 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

Thanks for the details. Enjoy this great PC! :)

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thank you, Shakaron. I am. ;)

Thanks, man!

starforceone 1 point 9 months ago

I love all the quality detailed photos you uploaded and that 1080 GPU will knock the ball out of the park. I appreciate it when people take the extra time to upload a lot of HQ photos and have proper cable management.

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thank you, starforceone. I'm glad you enjoyed the pics.

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Badgerslayer7 1 point 9 months ago

Awesome job!! Brilliant job on the lighting. It really showcases the Phanteks evolve case. How many 2m rgb strips have you used? There's 2 listed in the parts list. Can the evolve case handle 4m of LEDs? Great job once again!!

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Thank you! I used 2 of the 2m LED strips, they fitted perfectly around the case on both sides and had about 8 inches left of strip placed right above the middle exhaust fan on top you can see it in this pic crossing from one side to the other. Mounting the LED strip was very tricky, especially around the corners. Even though they have magnets, I had to use some pieces of heavy duty velcro, double sided 3M mounting tape and velcro ties.

JDMPR725 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Bro this build is just beautiful!!!!!!! 4 grand is alot but considering your putting hard effort and your paychecks to this build it definetly looks like 4 grand. This is so far the best build i've seen on the website. Kudos to you!!!!!!!

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Thank you. I did love building this baby and I know I will be enjoying it for a few years!

LittleL0L 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Congrats being featured on your first build, great cable management and beautiful pictures :D

Also using a 6600k, got it clocked the same to 4.7GHz, I don't know if the 6700k can get it further but it's a big amount of it though. Wishing you nothing but the best and most fun from your rig, some of the best first-time builds I've seen to date on PCPP. +1

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thank you, man! I appreciate your feedback. I tried overclocking it to 4.8GHz at 1.40v. Temps a little bit under 80c, but it wouldn't pass one of the stress tests. I'm really not sure I want to increase voltage any further.

LittleL0L 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Supposing I left my voltage on auto and it does the work just fine, doesn't make as much heat when I played with my voltage (30c on idle, rarely gets over 50c while gaming). When it comes to overnight downloads I switch back my OC settings to standard just so nothing bad happens.

Also yeah, do not go further than 1.40v, that's quite enough rewarding for a LGA1551 motherboard.

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

umartuki 1 point 9 months ago

Hey, I was planning on rocking this case with the h115i, so isn't it feasible?

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

480mm radiators are supposed to fit, and the manual says I needed to take out the mid plate bracket which I did, the thing is that I was only able to use two screws on the right side of the case, the rest of the screw holes didn't match the ones on the rad. I guess you can drill proper screw holes on the case rack, but I didn't want to deal with that. I just exchanged it for the H100i which was a perfect fit. This only applies if you want to mount the rad on the front. If you want to mount it on the radiator grill up top, I don 't think you'd have any problem.

Zonarion 2 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

Ugh... Sounds like I will be returning my h115i.

the_lost_carrot 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Could you link the covers you used for the cables for your SSDs? Your cable management is on point!

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thank you Kinpin! Oops, I'm going to add that to the parts list right away! Got it from Amazon . I chose that one because it didn't have any logo on it and had good reviews. Premium quality! I love it!

Why the hell. .. 1300 Watts? Thats ridiculous for this.

ElkinRusinque submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

At first I purchased the G2-1300 but then I changed it for the P2-1000 because of the ECO Mode feature that makes it very quiet. I think the PSU is one of the most long-lasting components, specially with EVGA's great warranty. And also, I got it for the same price of a 850W one, so why not? :)

I haven't been on this site since back when I signed up but this is by far the best welcome I could get seeing this featured on the front page.

I'm practically salivating at the parts, build quality and that incredible cable management. Pretty sure you've just given me the motivation to redo my gaming setup!

Sagir97 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

Hey man, awesome build! I've just been wondering, what are those black pipes you used to cover you used to prep some of your cable like the sata cables for example? I've never seen it before. I think it looks sick. Honestly the best cable mangement I've ever seen!

diegosa2407 1 point 8 months ago

What a beautiful PC Build!!! Congrats!!!

FrenchieX4 1 point 8 months ago

I have a question, and I'm sure it's stupid to all of you who know about building gaming computers, so I apologize upfront and appreciate anyone who can offer any suggestions. My 10 year old son wanted to build his own computer so we are both learning as we go. He's certain that he wants the GTX 1080 graphics cards but I didn't realize that there are different brands other than the Nvidia. We were set on just getting the Founder's Edition from Nvidia until we read comments from others saying that they were waiting for other brands to come out with their versions and now we are stuck again, not knowing which one is "the best" to get. What is the difference between Nvidia's 1080 and others like these made by Asus? I appreciate any feedback.

Biggus86 1 point 8 months ago

Cooling and clock speeds...

This should give you some insight into the different types of GFX card coolers that you'll see about.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiM2kwBL__U

Biggus86 1 point 8 months ago

This build is brilliant! I was looking at an alternitive to the Enthoo Luxe, I think I've found it. A much better looker on my desk than the Luxe.

owntheday 1 point 8 months ago

Just ordered the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Computer Case - Tempered Glass Edition, Galaxy Silver from Amazon Prime for my build. Arriving Friday. Very nice case.

DaRealMVP11 1 point 8 months ago

Nice Build! I love this case and I will probably use it in my next build. Your cable management is crazy good. I would just like to ask in wich colour the case in your Build is. It looks a little greyish in the pictures...

DaRealMVP11 1 point 8 months ago

And for the strips you used the kit for Phanteks Lux case?

Canucks278 1 point 7 months ago

Awesome build bro! I made a hypothetical build and it turned out a lot like yours. Seriously tho, it's a GORGEOUS build. I just wish I had money to actually make this build happen.

Reprisalgaming 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

Does this radiator come with pre applied thermal paste?

Faizan 1 point 7 months ago

I'm sorry, but PLEASE let me know, is there anything in specific you are using to keep those cables that clean? For example, the SATA connectors?

May I also know, where did you get your cables from? They are so neat.

BinaryArmadillo 1 point 7 months ago

An amazing computer, but even if I tried, I can't make a build over 2.5k :D

ZSURage 1 point 7 months ago

Are you able to use things like AI Suite to control fan RPM? If not, did you use an external fan controller (something like Corsair Commander Mini)?

mphershey 2 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

Really sweet build. Agreed with all the compliments by others, dat cable management on the backside (really goes well with Evolv's two sided glass), awesome job all around. Using combs for the 24pin and 8pin bundles on the back says it all.

Also just wanted to say that your parts list is A+, super thorough. We don't always get that on PCPP (even less elsewhere), but its super helpful as a list of those extra features people sometimes want to look into to take a build to the next level. Extra +1 if I could for that.

Killerbm07 1 point 7 months ago

This is a great and beautiful build. I love all the lights and colors. The color scheme is great, the keyboard and tower colors are matching wish I could build this myself.

TheGateKeeper6 1 Build 1 point 6 months ago

I'm loving the color man. I'm planning something similar. Nice work!

ZangLord 1 point 6 months ago

2 questions. One. Why do people buy more than one case cooler? And two. Are the led's in the case pre installed (I'm a noob)

ChrisRyan 1 point 6 months ago

1: To bring cooler air into the case and keep temps down and exhaust hot air out 2: No you have to purchase and install them

Hope this helps

ZangLord 1 point 6 months ago

Thanks. I was just wondering because there's already reinstalled fans in a case but now I see

ChrisRyan 1 point 6 months ago

No problem. Most cases come with fans it's just that a lot of builders swap them out for better ones

mutyavien 1 point 6 months ago

can you post the link on where you bought the cable combs and the cables, thank you! nice build

Killerbm07 1 point 6 months ago

Does your CPu Coolor come with thermal paste or did you have to buy some

Faizan 1 point 6 months ago

Please (submitter or anyone) answer me this: can I get a link to what you used to connect both of your SSDs in the back of your PC?

I see that your parts list has a SATA Power Y Splitter, but upon searching that up I noticed that it wasn't what I see in the pictures (last page).

Thanks for any help.

hamilton456 1 point 5 months ago

Are you sure those SSDs aren't going into a SATA Power Y Splitter? He has Hi-Temp split tube loom (had to Google it) on the wires, but the wires do meet in a Y and join up to a connector that looks to me like it might be part of a SATA Power Y Splitter.

Slide 83 shows a side view.

Let me know what you think?

Faizan 2 points 5 months ago

Yes, it does seem like it's a SATA Power Y Splitter. It may be this one.

MiraMinx 1 point 6 months ago

How is the balance on your build as far as positive or negative air pressure goes?

Bloodham 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Love the case and build!

I'm going with the same case and I was wondering about your cooler placement, would it be alright if I put a 240mm rad at the front with just 2X140mm fans pulling in air from the front of the case, through the rad and into the interior? or would I have to put 2X120mm there instead.

Wise choices with the components, all of which look gorgeous in that Phanteks case. My god it's just gorgeous! And I thought Led Zeppelin's songs were beautiful, this is right with 'em, and nobody gets that beautiful lol. Hope to use this case in a build in the future... doing a medium-tier one right now, so it doesn't fit with my budget. Awesome job and hands down the best cable management I've ever seen in any build!

triflic1 1 point 2 months ago

Hey. Got a question for you. What is your FPS using UHD monitors and for what games. I'm considering a similar build, but the performance reviews I see show a fairly big hit to FPS even with your video card. Using 2 seems to keep it around 60, but not sure I want to go that route.

About the MOBO what did you need the extra ports for? And how did you replace them so that you had the extra ports?

DarkMcStabby 1 point 14 days ago

Maximus IX Hero mb has only one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0 header onboard. At the least (for this build), you'll need one USB 2.0 for the AIO and one for the front panel. I'm in the process of getting the same board so it's an option that I'm weighing myself. Why ASUS, why??

Rose01011 1 point 25 days ago
