Best Budget Gaming PC 2018/2019

by jrglol

Description

So my AMD 880K decided to crap out (thanks to mother nature), and can't troubleshoot it, so I'm like screw it, I'm building a new PC. So this is what I went for. Disclaimer : I'm going to purchase another Kingston hyper X 8gb to run dual channel, as the board only has 2 slots, I decided to purchase 1 stick of 8gb for now. ;)

The build went smoothly, though the amount of cable management room is limited in the case, plus the top left screw for the tempered glass snapped off, unfortunately. The Asus board had 2 bent capacitors, so I've bent them back. The rest was hassle free. The power supply was a Deepcool 450W 80+ rated (not listed in pcpartpicker). The first boot was nerve racking as it took quite some time to post, after Ive installed my OSs (Zorin OS 12.4, and shitdows 10).

Dude you NEED faster and dual channel RAM to get good results from that APU... you can literally go from 20 fps in games to 60 just by using dual channel and 3000mhz or faster

I find the 2666mhz fine as the price difference is too high, plus I can overclock the ram if I wanted to. I'm going to purchase another Kingston hyper X 8gb to run dual channel, as the board only has 2 slots, I decided to purchase 1 stick of 8gb for now. ;)

Always go dual-channel memory for Ryzen, especially for APUs and 'first gen' chips

Looks good nice one. I built something similar for my son. Its great for gaming with esports titles. On more demanding games probably best to drop the resolution to 720p. (I did use 2 x 4gb sticks of 3200mhz ....i.e dual channel memory)

good idea....having some room to upgrade to 16gig..I possibly should have done the same

Yeah, soon games will require at least 16gb ram, good for the long run.

Great budget build! :) I am looking at the Antec P6 as a possible case for my upcoming build, but I keep going back and forth over potential airflow issues due to the narrow front intakes. How have you fared in the temperatures department?

jrglol submitter 1 Build 2 points 1 month ago

I really love this case, the airflow is not an issue at all, as the cutout for intake is from top to bottom, so no need to worry. I'm getting around 75c on cpu @3.8 Ghz and gfx @1.5 Ghz. The main I bought this case is because it has filters for a budget price. The front can hold 2 120mm or 2 140mm fans. The top can hold 3 120m or 2 140mm fans. The back can hold 1 120mm fan. I really recommend this case.
