Description

Upgrading from my Q2C Q6600 system for 2014 :)

I LOVE this case! I originally pre-ordered the Red-Black version but Newegg is not going to have stock anytime soon... So I picked up this baby at a local store for $119.99. It was super easy building in this case. I don't understand the people who said that it would be hard to install the SSD's, it was easy as everything else.

Previous system specs:

  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.8 GHz

  • Motherboard: MSI G41M-P28

  • RAM: PNY Optima 8GB DDR3 1333 (2x4GB)

  • GPU: XFX Radeon HD 6870 2GB

  • SSD: Mushkin Enhanced Chronos 60GB

  • HDD: Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache

  • Soundcard: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium

  • PSU: Raidmax 630W (semi modular)

  • Case: CM Storm Scout

Phase 2:

  • 4K UltraHD Monitor

  • Soundcard

  • Add 8GB RAM

  • Corsair K70 RGB

What's it built for? Gaming (BF4 mostly) Web Design (Photoshop, Muse, Fireworks, etc) Video Editing (UltraHD NLE)

I will be updating this post as more parts come in.

I would so love that RAM but, on my military disability (left some of me in Iraq to remind them all of how cool I was) they are just a tad over my budget.

I can dream though....

may i ask how you plan to get those 290s for that price?

I'm only going to buy them once the miners stop using R9 cards as their main mining hardware. In other words, when the price drops in a few months.

lets hope they come down that far, i dont think they will but thats just me. but that is going to be one kick *** build when you get down with it.

I'd change the cooler if I were you. Stock cooler doesn't do that well under higher stress. Like, gaming for instance. Other than that, pretty solid, +1.

You overclocked your CPU with the stock cooler? Also, I really hope you're going to upgrade your PSU too

The current 630w PSU came from my old rig. I'm getting the Corsair RM1000 soon enough. And yeah, somehow my i7 can go upto 4.2GHz with the stock cooler and not burn itself up LOL.

Is that a fan taped atop the power supply on the black rig?! That might be a sign...

When your GPU is running @ 90+ because of a soundcard under it. You try things... But yes, it was a epic fail.
