Description

Ok, I did not really need a new computer as I currently have/use a Maingear laptop that is only 2 years old and can play most games very well. But as most of you I love setting up and building PC's and wanted to build a Mini ITX.

It was a very uneventful easy build really, no major issues with any of the hardware. The NZXT Manta case is one you either love or hate, I love it obviously! It is amazing with cable management and just looks awesome. But yes for a mini ITX board it is huge. I did not want to deal with any of the dangers of liquid cooling (I own two fish tanks so don't need any more leaks/floods). The cryorig C7 is a great fan, and love the white fan blades. Was disappointing for some reason expected an LED light on it but it was just a nice looking compact fan. Keeps the temps very very low, on idle it runs at 37c to 39c. While gaming (Without a GPU). The reason I do not have a GPU is I decided to wait since the new 1080 are coming out, I am either going to invest in one or just take advantage of the lower price on the existing cards. And realistically the games I play on Steam are requiring more CPU then GPU so I am able to play Stellaris for instance without an issue with just the inboard gpu. As far as the build, I did experience an issue with the Gigabyte motherboard. It did not have any LAN or WIFI drivers which was a pain as I could not really go online to update anything until I downloaded the wifi drivers on a usb and installed them. Then I did notice that the wifi was turning on an off for no apparent reason only on that PC. So I hooked up computer with LAN instead. For someone that was hoping to use WIFI that could pose a serious problem buying a motherboard that is supposed to offer reliable wifi and obviously in my case it did not... I added two BitFenix Magnetic LED-Strip Cable, one red one white to finish off the look (besides the GPU obviously). Overall very satisfied with the look and performance of this build! Feel free to ask questions.

really love the minimalist look of that cooler, how is the temperature of the CPU at load with that thing?

Stylianfire submitter 2 Builds 2 points 35 months ago

Temp using cpuid has been around 35 to 39 at idle/internet scanning, and last night I was playing the game Stellaris for 2 hours noticed it went up to 51c highest mark. My A/C for house is kept at a constant 76F btw.

Cute kitty cat. Good job on choosing your components! How loud is the cooler?

1+

Stylianfire submitter 2 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

EXTREMELY, and I mean EXTREMELY quiet. Its actually very surprising but I think a major part is also the case itself is very well made and very sound proof., Either way I feel the cooler is very quiet both at idle and load.

I used this cooler in a node 202 and it was scary silent

Same!

Nice! Thanks for the feedback about the cooler!

+1 for cat and manta :D

Stylianfire submitter 2 Builds 2 points 35 months ago

thanks :) Ya that kitty is adorable, I rescued the poor baby from an attic that her mom had dropped her in.

TeyKey1 2 Builds 2 points 35 months ago

I think the cat's pretty satisfied now with that PC ;D

Funny you say that, I had to wait 30 seconds to type this because it decided to sit infront of my screen. Once I get a computer chair instead of this low rider thing I am sitting on it will fix that issue.

TeyKey1 2 Builds 2 points 35 months ago

hahahahah :D too good

Stylianfire submitter 2 Builds 2 points 35 months ago

BTW not sure if anyone has noticed. I got around the annoying Samsung 850 SDD upside down name by just covering it up with a NZXT sticker that was included with the case. :)

EdInk 11 Builds 2 points 35 months ago

Haha! This is the same issue with buying the Samsung 950 Pro, orientation is always upside down.

Stylianfire submitter 2 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Ya sily Samsung! great SSD's but heck add a sticker or something to cover the initial one up.

elias.boehmer 2 points 35 months ago

really good idea +1(to the build, and you)

Stylianfire submitter 2 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Thanks Elias, I do recommend the case especially, looks beautiful especially at night.

+1 for the awesome case

Very nice, clean build!

I'm also waiting for pascal to come out!

Are we related?

Stylianfire submitter 2 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Ya! What processor you have? I almost went with I7 as supposedly they can take advantage of Pascal more then the I5's... Oh well either way its better then the no GPU I am currently running lol.

PumpkinPc 2 points 35 months ago

i5-6500

We even have practically the same cpu!

mooiness 1 Build 2 points 35 months ago

Good job on the cable management - that is so clean!

Cyuren 2 points 35 months ago

Do you think it can run league well?

Stylianfire submitter 2 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Cyuren I think it can run it just fine. But again all components work together so not having a GPU currently could easily cause some bottlenecks and be a problem :) My plan was to get a Nvidia card until they talked about the new cards coming out end of May and I decided to hold off.

Very nice! :-)

I almost used that cooler in my Dad's Manta build, but my Dad had made a comment that he really liked the liquid cooler in my build so I spent the extra money for the white version of the Captain 240 AIO.

Stylianfire submitter 2 Builds 2 points 35 months ago

I saw yours before I decided/made my build. I loved your build for you're Dad. I especially loved the black/grey/red cords. I almost got them tbh and might in the future.

mb67 5 Builds 2 points 35 months ago

Those cable extensions are awesome. They fit really well in the Manta due to the curved side panels: On my Noctis 450 build they're rather difficult to manage keeping the panel closed.

nzxtevga 1 point 35 months ago

I like the look of it but it's pretty much the size of a nzxt h440

Stylianfire submitter 2 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Yes it is not what you would call a small case, but I just like the build quility, fan initial placement (comes with three) and like you said look (unorthodox but cool looking).

Perfect_Anubis 1 point 35 months ago

How's the monitor going for you?

I'm considering getting it because I figure the games I mainly play like Bethesda, Witcher, Dragon's Dogma, Left for Dead, and such might look pretty good on it.

Also how is watching movies and youtube on it?

Stylianfire submitter 2 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Hey There Perfect_Anubis. Monitor is working flawlessly. If I had any complaints its that it is Freesync (AMD) and I will most likely go Nvidia on my graphics card so I miss out on the G-sync. Other then that I have no complaints really that I can think of.

sldsnake14 1 point 34 months ago

I am building with the same Mobo. How were you able to install 2 fans? I only see socket for cpu and system fan

Stylianfire submitter 2 Builds 2 points 34 months ago

The case I am using has a fan hub in the back where all the cables are stored so you can hook up any extra fans into that. I believe that is what I did, but to be clear I did not buy any extra fans, my case came with three fans and the only other one is the cpu fan that I purchased.

22BusDrivers 1 point 17 months ago

Would you recommend the monitor?
