Description

UPDATE: I finally got a monitor, speakers, AIO cooler for my TX, and a new mouse :)

*Well I'd been wanting to build a nice gaming rig for quite some time and after much deliberation I finally got around to it. I've put together computers before but that was back in high school so the market has changed quite a bit since then given I'm a few years out of college now. I'd been staying fairly up to date with new tech and what not as I wanted to be on top of it whenever I came around to actually buying the parts and building my own rig. Well enough about me let's move on the the system itself.

*NZXT Hue RGB LED Controller: Looks great, works great though my first led strip had 3 LEDs that didn't shine blue light but really for $34 I'm pretty happy, especially given that Amazon was very quick to send me a replacement. A bit of caution though, the strip is 2meters long so it won't fit in all cases and the adhesive is really not the best, I'm still trying to figure out how to get the strip to stay put for more than a day or two.

*Well that's it, let me know what you think in the comments.

Part Reviews

CPU

After ruling out AMD it was between this and the 5920k; I wanted the extra lanes even though I will probably never use them. Also I'm not very familiar with OC so the clock was nice. Currently running at 3.75

CPU Cooler

Looks great and works even better, it's been keeping my CPU below ~32 and the Corsair Link features are cool as well. Highly recommend.

Motherboard

High ratings and a ton of features for the OC challanged and the built in WiFi 802.11ac is a huge bonus. Started up beautifully first time also, was sure to update BIOS right away.

Memory

I actually went with the C15 version but they are running great. Had some issues at first loading the XMP profile but after a bit of tweaking I got it going.

Storage

For my games just cause I like less loading time

Storage

Just cause you need a good data drive

Video Card

This was by far the most difficult decision and one that I still don't know if I did the right thing but what's done is done. I honestly dont have the patience for the EVGA 980Ti to be back in stock and really aside from price there's no way to go wrong with the TX, that 12GB of VRAM should carry me through many years (let's hope) and if at some point I feel I need to upgrade I'll just get another and run in SLI. I got the backplate for it cause I know this sucker runs hot so ~3 less heat is something I'll take. Now I'm just waiting for the Hybrid cooler kit to become available from EVGA.

Update: got the hybrid cooler, got tired of waiting for the TX version and settled on the 980 one which is awesome, same parts just different colored shroud. It has done wonders for my temps and is a must buy for anyone not doing a custom loop.

Case

I originally thought about getting the 540D but changed my mind after seeing the big beautiful side panel on the 760t and let's face it, it has a great layout for cable management and is open enough to do just about anything not to mention it looks great.

Power Supply

Had great ratings and cost a little less than the Corsair. I did the 1000G2 over the 850G2 cause I plan on getting the hybrid cooler for the titan and eventually getting another titan. Very glad the offer a cable set for this PSU also as the red VGAs that came stock would've been a major eyesore in my setup.

Optical Drive

Just so I could use the OEM disk to install Windows and the Blu-Ray option was nice.

Monitor

It's almost perfect, IPS (great color) check, G-sync check, 1440p check, 144hz check, all with a relatively good response time (roughly 4ms). Setup was pretty easy as I following the TFT settings, my display port cable is actually fully functioning, and the stand was easy to install. Hey and guess what, it performs beautifully, G-sync provides some beautifully smooth gameplay and the color is phenomenal. Now, the downside: QUALITY CONTROL, I think mine was part of the first run so there were some issues e.g. dead pixels and ips light bleed. It's very playable and still looks quite brilliant but can't wait to get my replacement, hopefully it'll actually be perfect :)

Mouse

This mouse is just spectacular. Great DPI range (like 200-8200), can easily set up 5 profiles that hold 1-5 DPI settings, 11 programmable buttons, rechargeable, very comfortable, great weight, sleek design, I mean how can you go wrong with it? I'd spent months jealous of my friend having this mouse and finally after finishing my build I got around to ordering this and could not be happier.

Speakers

These speakers are great, I don't think you could get a better 5.1 set for the price, period. Actually, idk if you could get a better 5.1 for 150% of the price. So, how should you take that? Easy, if you want a great system and not want to spend 150+ then get this, you won't be upset with the decision at all.

Now we see the TITAN X in its natural habitat. This species is incredibly rare and many call it the dominant leader, as the only species stronger than it have to team up in 2's,3's, 4's.When these other species also known as Graphics Cards, team up, it is a phenomenon known as SLI or Crossfire. The two rivaling species are the red cards and the green cards, and there is yet to be seen a better single card species sighted. (Imagine Bear Grylls narrating this as you read it for maximum immersion.) All in all, awesome build, you have my +1!

Thank you for that

hey it's like a super nice pink version of my purple and white pc! xD. well, almost

any who...

You should try getting either velcro tape, or the thick double-sided tape for the hue. they are a pain to hold in place with the cheap stuff. I had asked my wife for good sticky sided tape so of course she bought the cheapest thing she could find and I was like :|, so I went out and got good stuff. Great job it look great!

Crazy_Robot1000 1 Build 2 points 28 months ago

Where did you get your cables from?

calebthelion submitter 1 Build 1 point 28 months ago

I got them on Amazon, only like $90 for a complete set.

itz_jman 2 points 16 months ago

Sorry for the late and random response, only criticism i have of this beast and sexy build it the stickers on ur fans at the top. Could you please take them off HAHA

calebthelion submitter 1 Build 2 points 16 months ago

Lol I actually haven't ever noticed cause the side panel blocks really well. I'm probably gonna be making some big changes in a few months so I'll keep that in mind

GGoter 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

Bruh, same here

calebthelion submitter 1 Build 1 point 28 months ago

yep :) I definitely did some hw and have some tech experience from high school computer classes and working resnet in college but yea, first time I've built a complete pc.

apang2 1 point 15 months ago

Hey I noticed that you took the top panel off, is that for better air flow? I'm debating on either getting this case or the 750D air flow edition. How does this case do with dust and do you know where you can get a dust filter for the top?

calebthelion submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

Sorry took me so long to reply, but yea I remove it since I have a radiator mounted up top that works as an exhaust. There are dust filter sets you can buy (I've been thinking about getting one) but honestly I ran it for a year before I dusted and it wasn't bad and I have chinchillas in the same room as my PC. I really like the case though, it's great. Kind of a pain to do a custom loop in though just cause it lacks good mounting locations.

tmh720 1 Build 2 points 12 months ago

Can we see a picture of the chinchillas posing with the PC? :D

Thanks and yea looking back I should've gone with 2 Ti's and the 20k lol too late now :p

I think I've finally got the strip in there in a way that it only comes off in two places that aren't noticeable at all but if it gets any worse I will definitely be getting some sticky pads

QuantumEssence 1 Build 2 points 28 months ago

Double sided sticky tape works wonders for it, Its ridiculous how bad their adhesive is compared to sticky tape :P

calebthelion submitter 1 Build 1 point 28 months ago

yea, there are two spots on the strip that are real bad.

they're the evga sleeved cables (only work with evga G2/P2/T2 PSUs), I definitely want to check out CableMod at some point though.

calebthelion submitter 1 Build 1 point 28 months ago

Thanks and so far the cables are great just a tad stiff, I'm definitely going to be messing with the cables at some point to get it looking a bit cleaner, probably when I get my hands on the hybrid cooler for the titan x lol.

The Titan X may have the same-ish performance of the 980ti.. But ultimately it will last longer than the 980 ti.

PrezSJ 1 point 28 months ago

I imagine they are lowering prices of the higher end in general. The AMD cards from 300-500 dollars atleast this generation really do kick butt for the price. So I imagine the the 980 hitting around 450 at some point. So yeah, the titan X could be likely to follow suit.

Thanks and I've now settled on a slow pulse of just purple though the pulse/cycle for the LED is also really nice, just a tad distracting when watching movies or shows lol
