Description

This rig is used to host some game servers and for extreme gaming on 3 monitors 1080p. It is lacking in VRAM since the video card is the 2GB model but runs perfectly fine in 99% of the games.

The RAM DIMMs were purchased used and were about 40-50$ each 4GB DIMMs. With the Corsair H55 , the CPU under load heats for about 34C , the room temps is around 15-17C.

If the picture shows for about 8 cores , it's because the HT is not enabled since it's not required currently.

Yea , this comptuer was made for hosting servers and also for gaming , that's why I did took a Xeon.

As for the GTX 760 , I know I should have upgrated it but I do not play Crysis 3 or Battlefield 4, so no worries.

Why did you get that processor? For your usage it seems a 4960x would've been nicer to save money or get better other parts. For servers it sorta makes sense but for gaming it makes no sense.

Happy Halloween though!

Hmmmmm, I'm not sure the nature of the servers your running, but I'm assuming you want to be able to run a decently sized server while still gaming, so the Xeon will be fine. Although I would be a little worried about whether or not that one 760 can handle 5760x1080.

you're not alone to think about this but currently it's running just fine. I might need to add 1 in the next months since this rig did cost me a lot xD

Man i wish I could build something like this if i had the money

I would say that this rig is a bit to much expensive for gaming purpose , it's more like a server than anything.

You can build a pretty nice pc under the price I paid ^"

I do have a $700 budget build but my dream is to get at least like $1000 or $1100 build so i can max out most games.

The 3dmark11 benchmark was tested out without HT enabled , so it's not a bad score at all -^

Why is the processor so expensive? Whats the purpose of it?

Servers. Basically the usual sandy 2011 processor with fully unlocked 8 cores and it is down-clocked.

I think that the Xeon's have more cache in them or is applied differently through the cores. Also , it supports up to 384 GB ram on 1 physical CPU.

How are you using 20GB of RAM? O_O

Any other pictures, too?

how ? :P It's because i'm using a ramdisk to host my server , way faster :D

Yea , more pics will be posted tomorrow but I can post some other things I beleive

Why the mixed memory and such small storage space?

  • 1 point

I have an external NAS , that's why the comptuer doesn't have that much storage itself.

The mixed memory is because I had them from my boss when he had extras

not sure what kind of servers you plan on hosting with windows 7, you should have gotten an E3 and server 2012.

There don't appear to be that many threads on your E5, mine that i am typing this on has almost double that. The more i think about an E3 would have been better.

I work with virtual machines and servers all day.

Server 2012 is on a another partition , so it's fine ^ and yea , it's because the Hyper-threading is disabled.
