Description

I use this machine for gaming, video editing, streaming, writing, my side work (pc repair) etc.

I am coming from an AMD FX-6300, and WHAT a difference! My old machine was the same except for CPU, RAM, and Motherboard. My next project is to get a new GPU, possibly RX 580 XTR by gigabyte, or VEGA, depending on price/performance. May even go to GTX 1070.

So hope you like it!

Part Reviews

CPU

Excellent price/performance! Gaming performance is awesome, and video editing is SOOO much better now, encoding time is almost minute for minute, have it Overclocked to 3.7 GHz with the stock wraith spire cooler, and temps are only a degree or two higher than stock! Very impressed with the CPU, and the beefy cooler it came with! I would recommend this to anyone over the 1600X!

Motherboard

I wish the motherboard companies could have had more time to get things ironed out, but great board, overclocks nicely, no issues!

Memory

Great RAM, still waiting on better compatibility, this is a SK Hynix kit, so dont expect to run at normal speeds, YET, I run this at 2666 MHz until AMD releases new micro code

Storage

Fast, reliable, like most of Samsung's products. I have had it for a year, and I love it!

Storage

Another great product from Western Digital! I use this as a storage drive for my video recordings, games I don't play that often, etc.

Video Card

Great price/performance! A little on the weaker end of the mid range GPU market, but serves me well for now, will probably wait for VEGA, if not, I will most likely purchase a RX 580 XTR by Gigabyte. Other than that this MSI card is very nice!

Case

Excellent airflow! Excellent aesthetics! AMAZING price!

Power Supply

Its a Bronze PSU, not much else to say, it works

Case Fan

Very quiet, even ramped up when the CPU goes under load...Very nice looking, and the PWM chained wires are very nice

Keyboard

Had this bad boy for 4 years now, served me well, only downside, its not mechanical, and is starting to wear out, so Mechanical here I come!

Mouse

One of the best mice I have ever used! It was a birthday present, and I immediately got rid of my Razer DeathAdder. This thing is FAR and AWAY better! Adjustable DPS, Sniper Button, Weights, build quality, and LOGITECH!

Headphones

Decent Headset, good sound, just no surround

I got 70.00 off for signing up for an Amazon Credit card. Only reason it was that cheap

How does that RX 470 perform in some games, and does it get good temps?

Depends on what brand it is and what your cooling solution is. Usually if its a dual fan card with 4+ case fans idle temp is going to be around 24-27 Celsius and about 47 celsuis on half load. I have a 480 with a similar setup and i can tell you the dual fan cards are definently worth it if temps are your main issue. The only downside is that they can get loud sometimes if the fans are run at max rpm. Still the cooling solution in your case also plays a part in your gpu temps and performance.

It does fairly well, not the greatest card, but great bang for your buck, and temps are usually around 60 C in game, and idle around the 30s, it can handle most games at 1080p at 60 fps, on mostly high settings. (BF1, Arma, etc) ultra on older stuff, BF4, GTA V, Skyrim (with ENB btw, ive tested) etc

I would say its equivalent to a 1060 3 GB in performance, and slightly better than 1050ti

I would recommend the 480/580 8gb over this card, at the time I was strapped for cash, but I wish now I would have waited and got the 480/580.

Good card for the cheap price though!

Ah, ok. Thanks!

it performs very well at 1080p, Bf1 60 fps at mostly high settings, GTA V 60 fps on mostly high, some ultra, Fallout 4 60 fps on mostly high settings, its great budget 1080p card

how does this build do with streaming??? Wanna get a similar with a 1600 and a 1070 for streaming CSGO.

crustythesailor submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

it streams amazingly well, I was streaming Squad, a very heavy CPU game, and saw .05% frame loss over two hours

yJad 1 point 5 months ago
