Description

As part of my personal computing I been a laptop user for as long as i remember. This is my first attempt in building my own desktop for gaming/programming and anything under the sun of the internet.

Processor: I wanted to build a system that is current so i gone for the Skylake i5 6600k. In my past experiences i was pretty satisfied with the i5 performance.

Video Card: I originally ordered the basic version of the MSI 980 Ti which is the red one. I was surprised when i got the VC that it is a golden edition. I was tempted to return it then I felt inlove with cooper look of it so i abandon my first idea to go for the red theme build.

Motherboard: After abandoning the red color theme i had to look for mobo that will matched my VC. The first mobo that caught my attention was the gigabyte soc force which is a very beautiful board with orange all over it. The reason i did not go for it is the price. Asus z170 deluxe is $100 less and have build-in wifi/bluetooth so that seal the deal for me.

Memory: Corsair given me a 25% discount so i say why not get the best looking memory which is the Dominator DDR4.

CPU Cooler: My original plan was to get a 280mm AIO liquid cooler so I bought a NZXT X61; to my disappointment it did not fit on top of my case when paired with a dominator memory on-board. I don't like the look of front AIO (standing in front of the case) so i decided to replaced it with a H100i gtx. I am not happy with this changed because I gone for looks over performance.

Storage: Samsung 850 evo 500gb for my Main Drive (OS). Western Digital Black 2TB for my backup/files and 2 PNY CS2111 in RAID 0 for Active Data/Other programs. Got the evo and wd black last black friday, and the PNY cs2111 is just cheap on amazon so i decided to get two of them. The reason i gone for this PNY SSD is mainly for the burning triger logo.

PSU: While browsing looking for parts, saw a 50% discount on refub PSU in corsair website so i immediately grab the HX1000i. Discount made my decision to get this PSU.

WOW impressive rig man! I definitely love that case, it may be my next purchase; are you happy with it?

And please can you tell us how you got that lighting? what are the parts you have used?

generally the changing to quiet edition fans is a mistake on those coolers. performance drops big time. this case is also very restrictive on the top and front panels so you're doing yourself no favors there. overall a nice build. why'd you buy the white phanteks fans to replace the ones that came with the case? can I have your black 140SP fans? XD

The XPs should be better since they're much quieter and still move a lot of air.

they're only quieter if you use the QSA cable or lower the fan speed. otherwise the specs are virtually identical.

This is a beautiful build! I love the clean cables and rgb lighting. Enough to stare at all day. Also, nice snag on that sweet dominator ram

Great looking build +1

Was hunting around for others who went with the Golden and wondered how you've liked it so far. I've begun spending some time pushing it's OC potential and it's been rock-solid (@1400+ stable and air-cooled hitting mid-70's temps).

Good luck with it!

That ram is WAY overpriced, for 5 bucks less you can get 4x4 DDR4-3000 from the same brand. Also, for this price I feel like it should have 2 980 Ti's but that's just me.
