A Phanteks PH-TC14PE beats the H100 for cheaper, the mobo is a bit meh, 16GB of RAM is useless for anything expect for video editing/rendering, a 6870 is quite a low end card for a $1700 build, the monitors are overpriced and W7 ultimate is simply a waste of money.

  1. The 6870 at the time was recommended for hackintosh otherwise i would have gotten a better gpu.
  2. the h100 was something that i wanted to try out
  3. i went with 16gb because i use virtual machines and do some video editing 4.when i built this the ivy bridge was not fully supported for mac os. 5.the monitors i have had for a while now. the parts listed are simply what is the photo. half of the items i had already purchased prior to the build. so the 1700$ build is actually around 900.
  4. i have not gotten around to overclocking yet. i haven't had the time. but the h100 is working well minus having to send it back to corsair because of some little noise its making. corsair recommended a replacement so when it gets back i will try to make time to over clock.

I hope you overclock that cpu quite a bit, if you want to make use of that cooler, because I've heard good things about it. Then again it was the H60, but I guess the H100 can only be better, so don't take my word for it.

Why 16GB of RAM and why not an Ivy Bridge CPU? And for 1700 I would assume you could get a better GPU.

He would have been following what the hackintosh forums say are parts that work without doubt, but i see no reason for a 3570k not to, all the same, i doubt he will be gaming on this, more likely video rendering and such where the ram will actually come into use

6870 is very very very low end for this budget...
