Description

She's mostly harmless.

Been a mac user for quite a while but needed some more power for gaming. Think this should do just fine. Looking forward to having my mind blown by amazing graphics.

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

Is a refurb unit from NZXT. Was a little worried when it made a gurgling sound when first powered on but after a few seconds it went quiet. Very please with sound, looks, and cooling. Nice being able to change the LED color.

Motherboard

Nice board. Docked 2 stars due to poor design on the sata ports being straight and potentially conflicting with graphic cards.

Video Card

It's a Ref 980ti. What is there to say? Should be able to run just about everything I through at it for a while.

Case

Nice case for the money. slick design. Sturdier than I through it would be.

Monitor

Nice for the money (Got two and was able to get them under $200 each).

Docked a star because 144Hz is ONLY available via the DVI port and there is no Display Port.

Keyboard

Nice Keyboard. Very please with quieter blown key switches. Back lighting is nice.

White sleeved cables would look amazeballs inside of "Don't Panic". +1 for skylake and s340

Intending to do something similar while still being a mac user, by using a USB-switch to switch things in between

OSX is great but mac is a definite no-no for gaming

Why a reference 980ti?

Looks, SLI and possible watercooling in future.

Also I just noticed, you might want to finish your wall, or did you run out of money for the plaster boards after spending all the money on the build :)

Yeah, basement is still unfinished. Priorities, mate. Priorities.

looks? They are the worst looking (in my opinion) perform the worst, produce the most noise, heat and cost the same as a better version.

And most non-reference cards support water cooling. I recommend the strix one as it only has red on the front where you cant see it so it would still match your build and perform better.

Just my two cents, each to there own I guess.

the references...... they make the build 42 times better....... and also, i'm in the same situation as you, i typed this on a macbook pro and i'm aiming for a 6700k with a founders' 1070
