Well guys i finally built my first pc. It all started when I bought an old pc from a co worker of mine he built in 2013. I had it for about 4 days before deciding to build a brand new one haha
I wanted to build a pc that was as great at cooling but still be quiet. I decided to go with the R5 after seeing a couple reviews about the case. It is also a good platform to try a custom loop cooling system down the road :)
Went with the I5 4690k because I could not justify the extra $100 for the I7 4970k. Simply for the fact that ill only be using the pc for gaming and everyday type of use. No need for the hyperthreading.
I was originally gonna go with the Corsair H100i but decided on the H105 thicker radiator vs bigger fans. Can always upgrade later if need be. The current fans work wonders but are a little loud for my taste.
Picked up a GTX 980 G1 from Gigabyte (unfortunately it didnt ship with everything else). But I choose this one as I wanted something overkill right now for 1080p but will run 1440p pretty easily. And not have to worry about upgrading for awhile. **I have the crappy old 560ti in for the time being :(
I put in a Sentry 2 fan controller so I had more control of single fans over the built in controller the case comes with. Also took the old optical drive out of the old just incase I need to reinstall any programs.
Am also shopping for an SSD right now. Debating wether or not to get 2 and get rid of the Hard Drive. But the cage is a pretty good cover up of the power supply cable. I dont think I have seen anyone else do that with an R5 yet :) :)
During idle my cpu idles around 26-28 C and 45-46 C under full load with all of the fans turned all the way down, all the way up im seeing around 23-24 C at idle and 38-40 C full load with the fans cranked. Overclocked to 4.1 ghz right now :) My house is around 20 C at all times.
It might not be the best build out there but I like it for my first one.
