Description

First build ever! Chose parts after much-appreciated input from the PCPartPicker Community.

Went with AMD FX-6300/R9 270 combination as a good price/performance trade-off. Build went extremely smooth. Only hitches were contradictory front-panel header +/- markings on the mobo versus the manual, and a little difficulty getting Windows 8.1 to show my HDD in the File Explorer. Other than that it was a snap. Should have done this long ago.

Budget wise, I splurged a little over my initial $650 mark for the SSD - given the fast boot performance I'm now experiencing, really glad I did!

Merry Christmas everyone and thanks for all your input!

Hey man, solit build +1 :) why did you choose a seagate barracude though? :/ for less dollars u could have a WD caviar blue 1 TB which in my eyes is better... how are the themperatures? and the FPS? Enjoy ur PC :)

Really just based on past experience with Seagate. I've had a couple of WD's die on me before.

So far, so good. Thought I'd fried it when I got all the pieces in the case and couldn't get it to turn on; but after I got the header connections straightened out it purred right on. Really well laid out for connections as far as I can tell. I really just picked parts based on other people's builds, part ratings, and comments. Very happy how it turned out.
