Description

Why hello again fellow PC gamers and everyone else! This is just a little upgrade I did to my system, I sold my 2 GTX 660s and added a GTX 780. I've been using it for about 2 hours now (playing Need For Speed Rivals mostly) and it has been doing great! Temps are amazing, when idling it stays at around 21°C and while playing NFSR it hovered around 30°-35°C. Pictures aren't the greatest but whatever.

I have the CPU overclocked to 4.2GHz, nothing crazy because this thing heats up like no tomorrow. GPU isn't overclocked and I don't really need to do that.

I still plan on upgrading things in this machine and I shall list them for you now.

(CPU: i73770K / Fans: Bitfenix 200MM Spectre Pro White LED x2 / Custom sleeving all cables in the system / Back plate for the GPU and maybe painting the shroud and back plate white) This will cost me **** ton of money, I could do it now but spending all my money on this would be stupid.

This thing has cost me about $2500 after taxes so far... I need something better to do with my life...

I was going to add a shameless YouTube plug right here, but I figured people will get mad at me... http://www.youtube.com/user/AliTheLazyGamer

I am assuming the prices listed are the prices you paid at the time in the past and not what you paid for recently? Nice build by the way.

Yea exactly, all prices are before tax except the GPU. Thanks by the way!

21C idle!? How could do you keep your room?

Well... I live in Canada and my feet tend to get cold because of my PC, I don't exactly know room temps but I thought this was normal for the card lool

Your load temps are my idle temps and my room isn't exactly that warm either... dang

Damn... I checked your build and I'm guessing your talking about your 280X, AMD GPUs tend to run hotter than Nvidia cards but I'm not really sure what 780 temps usually are...

Yeah.. and Asus' cooler is top notch too. I just looked at some other builds with that card, and one gets up to 72C, and the other is water cooled and still gets up to 38C.... Either your cooler is on steroids or you live in an igloo

Great upgrade! Why did you choose that version of the 780's, I see it is the FTW from EVGA and I understand that FTW cards are highly clocked, right?

Yes, it is one of the highest clocked cards (there are higher) and honestly I was going to buy the Gigabyte or Asus 780 but I owned 2 EVGA cards (660s and one was a FTW edition) and they were lovely, they also have AMAZING customer service. Plus the Step-up program and such are a bonus (:

You upgraded to a GTX 780 to play a game that is locked to 30fps?

I would love to just answer "yes" and have you think I'm an idiot but no. I upgraded because I wanted one card, not two, I also use this to edit videos and play other games (My library is quite full of games) I just wanted to play NFSR...

Fair enough. You could've picked something a bit more epic to be the christening game for such a card though.

Awesome build, by the way.

Lol true but I'm pretty bored with most games now.

Thank you!
