Description

Hey guys! My name is David and I'm from the Dominican Republic :) Building a gaming pc is not easy when your country overprices technology :( So here's my first rig!

CPU : For the CPU I wanted something with enough power to play some of today's games, so I went with this beautiful I5-3570K that I found for about 144$ without the original CPU Fan. I'm very happy with this processor, has handled most of the modern games so far!

Motherboard : Went with something cheap for now, didn't really thought about how many RAM I wanted so I chose this. P.S Bought a new motherboard with 4 memory slots up to 32GB, I haven't install it because I'm moving from my country.

RAM : 8GB of RAM for playing games seemed cool for me. FOR NOW

GPU : GTX 950 is a beast, it runs most of the games on high settings. Couldn't be more happy!

Case : The case I bought in a local store for about 25$, it came with a generic 600W power supply and its surprisingly good. Not a Rosewill case, but same dimensions. Spray painted the case too!

Total= 650$

Moving to college in Tampa, FL. I'm planning to buy a Thermaltake V21 Micro ATX case and another PSU! If you have any opinions or comments about what should I upgrade, please, leave it in the comments section. Happy gaming! :D

There's lots of things you would do to improve the overall build, but I suggest you get an SSD just for the OS, trust me, nothing else you change will do so much of a noticeable difference once implemented.

And then a proper PSU, the one you have might be working fine for now, but when it doesn't it could fry all your components.

Agreed but the very first thing that could and should be replaced is that PSU. A simple 430W from EVGA would suffice.

non-constructive comment: case, wth? that's ugly primer/paint stuff onthe front.

other: Old but very good and capable processor! don't buy anything else before you get to Tampa, you'll get super good prices in USA. We have the same problem here in Canada, prices can be much higher, even after the conversion rate for the money.

Upvoted (even though I'm sure I'll get downvoted) because you're looking out for OP's best interest. Only thing I'd do different is offer suggestions. So...

OP, when you get to Tampa and you can order parts for decent prices, for a new power supply look for EVGA P2/B2/G2/GS, XFX, Antec, newer Corsair, and Seasonic units. There are some other brands/units that are solid, but the mentioned are the most common that go on sale for decent prices. Happy Gaming!
