Description

Hi people,

This is an Alienware ALX case with everything inside bought separately and built by me.

I really like the Alienware Aurora ALX and I always wanna to have of these. It took me a while but after some search, I found an Alienware ALX for sale on eBay, It was an entire built but I saw my chance to finally get my case...I bought the entire package for $730, it was almost a gift and it came with this configuration: Alienware ALX case with 2x500 GB Seagate HDDs, 2x460 EVGA GTX, DELL 875 Watts Power Supply, an i7 930 Intel, custom mobo x58 from the built, 12 GB of generic PDP Ram, the 22 Tactx Alienware Monitor, an Alienware Keyboard and an Alienware mouse, on $730 I saw it like a very good deal, since this case is almost impossible to get below $400.

I took out the mobo, ram and cpu and built a computer for my little brother, I sold both 460s, sold both hdds, sold the Alienware mouse and sold the Alienware Keyboard, because I already had mine.

This case only holds mATX mobos, I had to choose between the Gryphon or the Gene VI from ASUS, I went with the Gryphon because I really like I could add the Armor Kit, I had to buy it by additional $45, but I really like the way it looks.

I bought an 770 GTX with ACX cooler, but then my bro show me the ones with the TITAN SKIN and I like it the most, so I sold the 770 ACX and then got the TWO 770 GTX SC with TITAN SKIN..a little more expensive but worth it.

I got my 4770k by $220..yeap..exc price from a friend.

Like I pulled out the Liquid cooling that came with the old Alienware to my brothers computer...I got a new one from Amazon or eBay...dont remember quite well.

I was building my system and my girlfriend saw that...so she wanted to gift me something... I was looking for some Tritton, she came out with these Turtle Beach Kilo...they are nice

The ASUS USB hub, you can only get i with new mobos, I got a Hub on $50$ from eBay..

Custom Liquid ...yes I will love it...but in this case..I dont see plenty space, if you can help me with ideas..you are welcome

I got from Amazon the following parts brand new: both 770 GTXs, the mobo and the armor kit. I ot them on July 7th.

Right now Im trying to sell both monitors to get something new, my old DELL is like 8 years old.

Now please let me know if you have any comments ir doubts..

Regards,

Yeap Thanks! It took a while ..fighting with some prebuilt cables and the bracket in the back for the Liquid Cooling was a pain

Much better. And it is a really nice build, though I'm not a fan of the case. :p

EDIT: You're still gonna get some downvotes, but that's because some people don't/can't read. :/

I might not be much of a COD fan but metro, SC2, Crysis. Great games! Nvidia surround will look great I've seen it in action and its amazing! but yes sadly it costs lots of money.

very nice, question though, how did you manage to get the ALIENFX for the case to work again, scince you basicly gutted it, meaning it would no longer have the custom built MB which i imagine was custom built, as to support the ALIEN FX

Thanks, Good question..the Command Center, the one who controls..thermals...and lighting system has several versions...I used the version that doesnt "check" for the MOBO you are using. I can change lights easily and no problems at all, also I can update the software when available

  • 2 points

ah cool, then im guessing the lights use the same cable as the power button/front usb ports?

btw where did you buy the alienware case from??

  • 1 point

I got it from eBAY, you can get a normal Aurora for about $170, I got one of those for my little brother, and the Aurora ALX is a little bit harder to find, I got it as an entire system, with an i7 950, x58 mobo, 12 gb of ram, 2x500 GB HDDs, took all these and make the system for by brother, then got my new parts and placed them on the Aurora ALX case :D

The lights still use the control board and they get powered by USB hooked to the mobo and a 4 pin power connector

I´m moving forward to get Nvidia Surround :D

About the 4 GB diffence, mine are 2 GB, Im just working 1920x1080, when you get 4 GB ..you will be able to get higher resolutions with no problem.

  • 3 points

Yeap..Is the same built..but I was getting too many bad comments...all because I never post anything on description..so most of the people tought it was just prebuilt Alienware

Hmm..I know..I like the design of the case...

That's fair enough, everyone has different tastes. I wasn't criticizing. How are your temps? I've heard a few alienware cases can be notorious for trapping hot air.

CPU 30C Idle..VC 40C-45C Idle...During Gaming...Lets say BO2 or BF4 Beta..CPU going almost 50C and VCs around 75C

What kind of psu are you using?

  • 1 point

I´m using the one that came with the case, is a DELL 875, I know is not the greatest, because I was checking at the rails but I had the SLI working with no problems. I'm might just do some sleeving on it instead of replacing it.

why did you pay extra for that ****** titan cooler??

  • 2 points

I´m not a person that worries too much about cooling the video cards...if they get bad, I will just claim for warranty

Against the ACXs, I like this ones the most!!!

you don't care about thermal performance? :O are you from mars? i assume you aren't planning to OC the cards

  • 1 point

No OC to VCs, nope. Worries about thermal performance yes, but I have this little group and they care too much about...I really dont worry too much...for example, my vcs are going around 80C during gaming, I see that normal, but people from my crew think thats too much. :D
