Description
Under the influence of an overeating and alcohol filled Thanksgiving night, I decided to build this system for my sister on a whim (and some awesome prices). Went with an i3 due to the dearth of AMD mITX mobos. Got the CM Hyper 212 EVO purely for looks, since she was into the oversized cooler look of the Phanteks PH-TC14PE in my mATX build.
The BitFenix Prodigy is an easy case to build in, with good cable management (the space to the sides of the PSU cage were a godsend), and lots of open space for airflow. The only issue I ran into was that a larger GPU like the 7870 sits about two inches into the optical drive bay. Will probably just Velcro the slim external Samsung DVD-RW onto the outside of the case in case she needs an optical drive. I initially built this system with the stock Intel cooler for safer transport (sister lives in New York), but noticed that the Hyper 212 brackets and mobo were both strong enough for ground transport. I decided to swap them out at some random hour of the night, so lighting in the pictures are fairly poor. I have yet to zip tie the wires connecting the side buttons/case LEDs to the mobo, but will do so before boxing.
I cannot stress enough the quality of the case. It's excellent.
P.S. - Pics were taken with my phone. The flash is strong enough to wash out any semblance of color and steal your soul.
BONUS: Friend's cat and some specialty meat smoking.
