So I decided in the beginning of this year that I was ready to start building PC's again. And since I am pretty much an AMD fan boy, I decided AMD is where I wanted to start out. With this build I wanted to go with a reasonably priced 1080p gaming machine. And what better theme to go with then red & black to match team red. I tried to do my best to get parts that matched this theme and I think overall I did pretty good job.
Ok, so for the parts, I went with the AMD 6300 FX processor because its cheap and a great option for gaming, as well as other things. Of course I went with a nice aftermarket CPU cooler so that I could get the most bang out of this processor through overclocking. After toying with it in the BIOS, I was able to get a stable 4.3GHz overclock. For the motherboard I decided to go with the newer Asrock 970 Performance. The board is priced well, has lots of features and upgrade options for the future. Not to mention the board fit my color theme I was wanting.
Some might see the hard drive options I went with and are wondering why I didn't go with an SSD. Well I went with the VelociRaptor drive because at the time I bought it, it was on sale for only 40 bucks and 300GB for a high speed drive was much cheaper than an SSD of equal size. No, its not as fast as an SSD, however, the VelociRaptor is considerably faster than a standard 7200 rpm hard drive. And load times are decent as are the boots.
Anyways, overall, I think that all the parts I choose work well for its purpose and I was able to keep the color scheme I wanted. Hope you enjoy the pics and I welcome all comments or questions :-)
