Description

Edit: Added a Drawing of the Custom made Plate to the Album.

Hi Everyone.

I started this Build about 2 Months ago. In the Internet i found a free dual chamber Case. So i got there looked at the Case and had an Idea. What if i could modify this case so that i can fit 2 PC's in there? This was the beginning of the Project "1Case2PC's". I decided to build myself a Server. The other PC that is in there was removed from my old Case and migrated into the new. I started to think about what parts I should use for the server. Since there is not much space where the server should go, the first idea was to use a Mini ITX board. BUT there are no Mini ITX boards avaliable that would fit my colour scheme. So then i decided that i would use a µATX board. The decision was an easy one. ASUS Gryphon Z97 Armor Edition. This fitted my colour scheme perfectly. Then after a little bit of measuring and thinking it was clear that i could only use a SFX PSu for the Server. So i had to design an custom holding Plate for two PSU's. After this was done the whole case was painted mattblack.

I do not use the full Potential of those two PC's it is only a Project for me to have a quiet but powerful Dual PC. Sometimes i upload Videos to the Server, which runs Windows 10 btw, to render them. Or i work on a 3D Animation on the normal PC and then upload it to the Sever. While it renders on the Server i can do other things on the normal PC without compromising anything.

If anyone asks. No i am not crazy to buy all these Noctua industrial Fans. I got them for half of the normal price. :)

I also added a Quad Port Ethernet Adapters to each of the PC's for faster transfer speed between the two machines. Now about 350-400MB/s are possible. :)

Part Reviews

CPU

Nice Processor. Nice to undervolt. And not as much hotter as the 4790K as i thought.

CPU Cooler

What should i say instead of Noctua. Effective, quiet, outstanding build quality.

TotalInsanity4 2 points 35 months ago

So out of curiosity, what is the purpose of this case SUPPOSED to be??

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

it should be an allround pc. something i can take with me and have everything what i need

TotalInsanity4 2 points 35 months ago

No, I meant what it was marketed for :p I don't understand what a dual-chamber PC case would be for other than putting two builds in it lol

Is the second chamber just supposed to house hard drives and peripherals or something?

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

It was originally designed to be a server case. you can mount redundant PSU's into it and stuff like this. and it originally comes with 15 HDD indicator LED's so i think it was designed to be a high capacity storage server.

yes the second camber originally holds only the hdd's, other 5,25" equipment and the PSU's

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Google for "Yeong Yang 0420" many people have used this for their watercooling builds. but years ago

rightinthepope 2 Builds 2 points 35 months ago

This is an awesome concept! It reminds me of the Phanteks Mini XL case. +1

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 2 points 35 months ago

Thanks.

twinn 1 Build 2 points 35 months ago

Well done. It looks great. :)

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

CrazedGunner 2 Builds 2 points 35 months ago

Good lord, you have all the internet speed. Might explain the sudden dip in my speed.

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Mention. Its only internal network speed between the two machines. but the speed i get is great.

Redglitch 2 points 35 months ago

98th. only 2 more. +9000 too cool man. Too cool.

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 2 points 35 months ago

Oh thanks. Now 101 haha

Yeong yang 0420

SpecificAlduin 2 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Thanks, I will check it out.

commodore64 3 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Hm quite an interesting setup there, I've never seen Dual PC cases.

nuked24 4 Builds 2 points 35 months ago

Phanteks makes a full tower designed for a twin-ITX build, Enthoo Mini XL DS.

commodore64 3 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Yeah I saw that, does seem like a bit of work to get setup correctly.

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

It wasn't dual PC Case. I had to cut and dremel a little bit to fit the Mobo in. If you are interrested it is a "Yeong Yang Cube YY-0420"

jimmystempura 2 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Wowza, Dual PC!!

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Thanks

jjkfeng 7 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

GermanMustardBuilder 2 points 35 months ago

Now the electronics got an additional little "Feature" smell :D

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Oh yes. Thats so nice

MarshmellowMan2 1 Build 1 point 35 months ago

Yoshie@Japan 1 Build 1 point 35 months ago

This looks very close to my case but with some tweeks

philphaser 12 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

I request the H105's color ring to be painted! Golden preferably.
And i request some professionel looking images! This build deserves some.

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 2 points 35 months ago

Oh yes. Forgot to change the ring. I will do it if i open it the next time. Yes, but where should i get some?

philphaser 12 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Just post on the forum right here (or LTT for example). I'm pretty sure someone in the community will take the call. If you were in my area, i'd do it...but i don't figure you're even german, are you?! ; )

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 2 points 35 months ago

Yes i will thank you for the info.

I am from austria, vienna.

philphaser 12 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Well, let's hope vienna has a supportive community.
: )

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Oh yes i hope so

sniperpro 1 point 35 months ago

so did you connect 3 ethernet cables from one pc to the other, and one fro internet.

Am I right

cool build

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

4 ethernet cables. One is black so you cant really notice it on the photo. Yesterday i have ordered 4 nice black ethernet cables. Now im just figuring out how to run the cables inside the pc

BingoFishy 1 point 35 months ago

Coolio. Can you do this in the Corsair Air series cases?

BigAll 5 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

you would't have much room on the other side, you may be able to fit a mini itx build and a tfx psu in a 540. Notice how the psu is sidewase relative to tower cases, not nuch room

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

You can use a psu splitter, so that youcan use one psu for two systems. So you woumd have more room for other hardware. But i think it could be possible to fit an micro atxboard on the other side.

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

But only a slim one. You have to remove all these hdd cages. So mass storage would be a problem

BingoFishy 1 point 35 months ago

You could put the storage drives on the other side.

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

What side do you mean. The psu/server side or the "clean" side?

BingoFishy 1 point 35 months ago

clean

OMGriffinz 2 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

This is amazing and it has inspired me to make 1 myself

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Please text me so that i can see the pc. Please.

OMGriffinz 2 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

I will when I make it thanks.

intel2012 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Reminds me of LinusTechTips 7 pc's in 1 case.

SpecificAlduin 2 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

But those are virtualized. not 2 physical computers in 1 case.

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 2 points 35 months ago

2 physical pc's no virtualisation in my house.

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

But in my build there are two physical pc's ;)

markolbb 1 Build 1 point 35 months ago

Very cool, I really wish I had such a case I would love to combine my two rigs like you did. Good thinking! Edit: I don't see it if you mentioned it, but what brand/model is that case? I can't seem to find it. Thanks!

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Think of the corsair air 540 it is possible to fit two pcs in this case. Little bit of modding required

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 33 months ago

Yeong yang 0420

quzar469 1 Build 1 point 35 months ago

10/10 for creativity

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Thanks man :)

DKrait 1 point 35 months ago

This is so cool :) So nice to see new unique builds all the time like this! +1

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Thanks.

Tigered332 1 point 35 months ago

I love this build, just because its a 2 in one very smart.

AceBalthazar 3 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

i'm curious as to what model Ethernet adapters those are... as i didn't see a model number in the description

LechnerFlo submitter 4 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

I do only know the model number. I think its the model number EXPI9404PT The chips from these cards are very old (about 2005 i think) but for my use they are more than enough. And i got them for 40€ each. So i think a good deal.

AceBalthazar 3 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

thanks! that'll be helpful

love the build btw, very clever
