Description

This is a build that I was especially excited for. I never had people to play games with when I started out on PC but always tried to sway a few friends to join me on the great crusade through the glorious universe that is PC gaming. None of my friends wanted to shell out the money for even a basic budget PC. Then one day my best friend finally decided to build a computer through me. He buys parts and I install them for him. (Even though I bought most and he is paying me off over time hence why its sitting next to my computer!)

NOTICE: PSU IN THE COMPUTER AS OF NOW IS MY OLD EVGA 1000w WITH BRAIDED CABLES. WILL SWITCH BACK TO OLD 630w SOON

This build was to be a mixture of new parts and some spares left over from my parents old HTPC. The only parts that were good enough to salvage were the 500gb HDD, Disc Drive, and 8gb of RAM. The rest we got new and on clearance. I will include a picture of the first case my friend chose which was the Black Thermaltake, I gave him my old Corsair Air 540 after building my new rig Za'Kir. (Check it out on my completed builds, its really sweet!).

We went with the blue/white/black theme since it was decently easy to follow and looked nice. Now this isn't my cleanest build but I'm still happy with how it turned out. Not thrilled, but happy.

Here is my breakdown of all the major parts:

  1. Intel i5-4690k Boy this is one hell of a CPU for the money. Picked up this bad boy for $200 at my local Microcenter and bundled with the MB for only $275 for both. Best deal ive gotten in awhile, overclocks extremly well and will run anything thrown at it when paired with a good GPU. Intel quad core are animals in my opinion. Pricey, but if you can get a good deal, well worth it.

  2. Zalman CPU Cooler The look of this CPU cooler is what drew my attention. It looks so different among other coolers and does a great job at what its built for. Keeps CPU very cool when play titles like ARMA, GTA V, etc.. The black nickel plating on the whole thing looks really nice too, just make sure to read instructions so you don't install it backwards!

  3. MSI Z97 SLI Krait Edition Literally my favorite looking motherboard that is currently for sale. The black and white look amazing together. The MSI board also has great features built in and the OC Genie is amazing at a quick and stable overclock of 4.3 g at the click of a single button. Ports and everything are put in good spots around motherboard, Wish there were a couple more fan headers but no big deal!

  4. EVGA GTX 970 SSC Great budget card, picked it up for $310 since my cousin works at the local best buy and got me a little discount. Runs every game thrown at it at ultra to very high graphics depending if you'd rather have more frames or better looking image. None the less amazing card for the price and performance. The card looks good too but I've never been a big fan of the ACX design. I'm a MSI Gaming guy myself.

  5. Corsair Air 540 Great case for great airflow and has tons of cable room in back for an extra clean looking build. The ability to mount coolers almost anywhere in this case is great for people trying to squeeze everything they can out of a case. I did paint the front grills white to make it pop a little bit more but that's all the custom work i did. Sturdy case too, good material. Only thing I don't like is the SSD cage in the back feels a little flimsy compared to the rest of the case but it does its job.

  6. Thermaltake 630w This is the original PSU that I will be reinstalling. It worked great and never had any trouble at all. No weird noises, no vibration, no nothing. Works fantastically for $65 and its just what I was looking for.

  7. Thermaltake TTEsports keyboard and mouse combo I have the Cooler master one on the parts list but as you can tell from the pictures that its different. Nearly identical to the TTEsports on just re branded and shaped a little different, they play almost exactly the same. Actually a really good quality combo for the price of $30 HIGHLY recommend to a budget gamer that wants that's gaming feel without breaking the bank!

Thats about it for the parts so I hope you all enjoy this build as much as me and my friend do. I know he is glad he joined the PC Master Race instead of getting the Sony Peasant Station 4. As always feel free to check out my other builds, up vote, and comment, Id love to reply back and talk to everyone!

Hey thanks ! Yea that 1000w is going in my other friends build i'm doing that's AMD and has a R9 290 so it needs that power supply more then this build does, this will be getting the thermaltake PSU back after I finish the other build.
