This is my second build on my own. About a year ago I built my first PC with a limited budget and while it turned out well, I really wanted to build one with all of the parts I wanted so I built this one. My brother wanted to buy my original PC which enabled me to build a new one. This will be used for gaming and some programming. I am planning on upgrading the SSD in the near future for one with better speeds and more storage as 120GB is pretty small.
CPU: I went with the 4790K because I am going to be doing a lot of circuit design and modeling for school so I figured the extra power couldn't hurt over the 4670K I had in my last build.
Motherboard: I have heard some mixed things about MSI motherboards but honestly I had a great experience with my last one and this one has been no different. Plus it goes with the boring old Black/Red build theme
GPU: Same as the motherboard, I love EVGA cards, I have had really good experiences with them. I almost got the MSI Twin Frozr for the Black/Red color but I went with the EVGA instead.
Memory: G.Skill Trident 1866. Went for the lower latency over the 2400 higher clock speed.
Overall this build was a lot of fun and came out great. Under load the CPU doesn't go over 61 degrees with this cooler and the rig got a score of 11908 in the 3DMark Firestrike benchmark.
If there are any other benchmarks you guys could suggest that would be great as I haven't really run that many. Thanks for checking out the build.
