This my second build at the age of 17. I have been wanting to get into streaming for quite a while now. However I didn't have the CPU for streaming. So when my old computer started crashing randomly and black Friday came around, I decided to pull the trigger. My plan was to get a new CPU, Motherboard, Ram, Case, and CPU cooler. This means that my hard drives, graphics card and power supply I brought over from my old build. I was originally going to go with the ryzen 5 1600 but then the gigabyte board went on sale for a hundred less. I also figured the i7 would give me better in game performance. For those curious on the deals I got I paid $310 for the CPU, $180 for the motherboard, and $190 for the Ram. A week or so later and all of my new parts were at my door step. Sadly I had to do homework(very little) first before I could build. Now that I had my homework done, I began to build. Since this was my second build I got straight to it. Everything was very easy to install. I really like what Fractal Design did with the fan headers. Made cable management so much easier and cleaner looking. The Corsair 400C is an awesome case. Love the side panel. My only complaint is that cable management was a little tough to do(especially since I want them to be pretty much perfect), not much space to cable manage in . At this point I brought my pc back to my desk and powered her on. Everything booted up just fine. On my old computer I would get about 80fps on low settings on Overwatch. I can now do 120 fps on high(haven't tried to go any higher yet). All across the board I was getting better performance in game. I play Overwatch, Rainbow six siege, Csgo, and Warframe(occasionally). These are the games I play the most at the moment. Also I could listen to music and have discord on without breaking my computer. I am really pleased on how the 7800x is performing. So far it handles everything I throw at it.

Things I will you it for -Gaming(of course) -Streaming -A bit of video editing -CAD(since I have Solidworks) -Whatever else pops up

Temps -CPU idle - 25 ° C load - 55 ° C(Have seen it spike to about 65° C before) -GPU idle - 30 ° C load - 65 ° C

In progress things -New monitor(coming Christmas) -New graphics card(The one I have now works just fine, this is just done the road) -Cable management of desk(waiting on monitor) -Better mic(for stream) -Webcam(for stream)

Sorry for bad pics. Phone camera is not very good

Hope you guys enjoy my build. Please share your thoughts. I like getting feed back to see how I could do things different for the next time.

An interesting build, by a fellow student at that, the 400C is an awesome case though and I had one in my last build before I sold the system, but right now I'm hoping this S340 Elite Purple edition has awesome cable management that can top the 400C. Aside from that however, really nice build, awesome deals too.

Although, you should update the prices if you didn't pay what it says on the part list.

Are u able to fit the AIO on the top of the case ?

Sawdog submitter 2 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

I was able to but switched it to the front for better cooling.

Nice job but, you could've picked up the R7 1700x for $229.99 at Microcenter on Black Friday. It has more cores but i has the same clock speed as the i7 7800x but was a lot cheaper. Also, to match the CPU, you could've saved even more money on a B350 board or even an x370 board which were like $80 cheaper than what you bought your board for. Here's a build that you could've built for the same price today, not even on black friday you could afford a R7 1700 and a GTX1070 -> https://pcpartpicker.com/list/F9p8WX . On black friday you could've gotten the R7 1700x and maybe even a GtX 1080 or RX vega 64 with a lot more storage and better stuff for a similar price. So, all I'm trying to tell you here is that you should take a look at ryzen because they have similar CPUs to Intel but, they go for A LOT cheaper(For example, Ryzen 5 1600 $190 - I7 7800X -$350. Similar specs -> 6 cores, 3.5-3.2Ghz). If you were to do another build, try using Ryzen and you could save some money that could be better spent on something like your GPU. Hope this helps :)

Yeah totally get you and that was going to be my plan. However the good deals and being able to get an intel cpu got me hooked.
