Description

I built this PC with the intention of allowing my parents to stream movies and browse the browse the internet and since that's the most intensive use it's going to get I didn't bother making space for upgrades and such there is no future-proofing included in this build.

I did order two USB 3.0 Case to USB 2.0 Motherboard connector but I've since removed them from the build because, even though the case has two front panel USB 3.0 ports, the case comes with its own connector.

With regards to the hard drives I took them from a couple of old and dying PCs my parents had purchased about 8 years ago and, due to space requirements, had to connect the second one with a MOLEX plug.

Even when you don't do very high intensifying work (browsing web, streaming movies) more RAM is definitely helpful. Maybe give them 2x 2GB sticks for their birthday or something! Nice build +1

I know this rig wont be doing much but that RAM needs an upgrade, the clock speed is really slow especially for an APU which uses the RAM for the GPU (so faster is better). All and all (less ram) great part choices.

Thanks a lot!

I didn't think that 2GB more RAM would really make a noticeable difference but it seems like most people think otherwise so I'll look into it the next time I do a build like this.

Going from 4gb to 8gb you wont see a lot of difference in your average users PC, but now of days 2gb is just not enough. If you chose to keep only a few things open you should be fine but don't plan on it being fast.

I run 16gb for no other reason than to have it, 16gb is overkill. :)
