Description

I haven't built a PC in years. My last one was a Q6600 with a 8800 GTS 640MB :)

This combined my need to try watercooling with a small form factor case. The MSI 970 GTX Gaming does not really fit and lifts the panel just a tad because the heatpipe touches the window. You might be able to notice it in my pics.

I'm happy it worked the first time I put it together

I have the Gryphon armor on the way as well as a 1440P monitor. I will be uploading pics when it's updated I will dabble in overclocking next.

Update: I got the monitor and the motherboard armor in.

Update 2: It is now a full time Hackintosh running Mac OSx Yosemite 10.10.3 with no issues :)

Nice system. I want to get from this video card. Does this case top cover closes?

It kinda does. Please see the pictures and you can see the small crease where the side panel doesn't close all the way.

Nice! I wanted to see a build on its side. TUF sticker looks good like that too. Good luck with the armor installation tell me how it goes. I want to know if you have a hard time fitting everything like I did.

Thanks, it was tough in places. There are tight clearances but it worked out in the end. Temps are really low. Now I have to figure out this hackintosh deal :S

I have to ask, since I tried the same setup but the card just wouldn't fit, have you had any trouble with the window and the heatpipe touching? It hasn't melted yet I can assume? personally I chickened out and switched the card for an EVGA FTW, but I'm glad to see someone went for it and jammed the window on there with the MSI.

I left it on there. The heatpipe doesn't get anywhere near hot enough to melt the plastic on the window. The highest the GPU core has gotten is like 54C without OC and the heatpipe hasn't gotten terribly hot after a long gaming session. I'm not worried about the window, if not, I'll try to do some mod to it or just switch cases to a 350D but I like the Air240 so I'm going to stick with it. :)

Hey, quick question, are you doing push pull with the rad? If so how easy was it to bend the water tubes below the second top fan?

I am doing push pull with the rad. I had to bend them with my hand. I had to put a little pressure to get the hoses to bend but I didn't think it was extreme. what I ended up doing was putting the h105 first and the top fans last.

Oh cool, I was just going to do pull, so I'll have more room to bend my tubes. Thanks for the information!

good luck, there aren't many temp gains to be made anyway. I mostly did it because I can turn the fans down really low and still have enough cooling to game. this keeps my pc as silent as possible

Nice Build. Surprised you got a MSI 970 to fit as Corsair say this gpu wont fit

Technically, it doesn't fit :) It pushes the window up a little bit. I'm thinking of switching to a Corsair 350D because of that

none yet. I haven't overclocked yet though and I've only tried Shadow of Mordor so far. I ran the benchmark with VSYNC off and I didn't get any coil whine

no coil whine. the card is quiet and stays cool while gaming

I got my first little taste of coil whine in the menus loading Max Payne 3 but it wasn't loud and it only lasts a second while the main menu is loading

I also just completed a build yesterday with the air 240 and the msi gtx 970. I pushed the case window against the card as well. Have you had any issues related to that? I heard that it might apply too much pressure on the card and mobo and can break it. Any issues?

i foolishly tried to screw the top cover down and cracked it so I just leave it on top without tightening that bolt that's close to the video card in the back
