Description

UPDATED Oldest son in the Air Force brought me some items to add to my ammo can so I added a few more pics.

This is the machine I finally built for myself and I love it. Use it mainly for gaming and regular surfing. Not completely done tweaking it yet, but its ready to go. And I was trying to be around that $1000 mark. I will, in time, try to overclock. And yes, I know, that I will have to change that stock cooler out. This is my first build, so its not perfect but I tried incorporating everything I have learned from this site. I debated about the stickers but zombies are huge in my household and couldnt help but throw them on for me and the kids' sake. I just thought they would look decent on the ammo can.

CPU--Couldnt ask for more when on a budget to grab this processor.

MB--Got a good affordable board that should fit perfectly for this build

RAM--Crucial Ballistix--was trying to go with some yellow/orange for the inside of this build and its a decent product.

Video Card--Really went back and forth with this selection, but in the end, closed my eyes and picked this one and it has done great for me since.

HDD--Will eventually pick up an ssd, but had this on hand and threw it in.

Case--I love this case. When I ran into this one, I knew it was the one for me.

PSU--Corsair, just another product I felt would be good for the build

Fans--decent fans that kept with my initial color scheme.

I am happy with myself and with how it all turned out and was even more stoked the first time I fired it up and it didn't smoke on me. :)

Looks like it could fit some 30mm rounds in there, if not some .50 BMG rounds would be nice. Aim the rounds at the CPU and GPU to scare them and they will run faster.

Lol, I will see what I can do!

If I had to pick an AMD CPU, I'd have gone for an FX-6300. It'll perform exactly the same as the FX-8320 in 99% of games, and only marginally worse in the other few. Once you pass 4 cores, the core speed matters more than anything.

RustyRaptor 2 points 51 months ago

or the 6350

SothothFatalis 1 Build 1 point 51 months ago

That'd work as well.

charliegunn submitter 1 Build 1 point 51 months ago

I actually debated going with the 6300 when I first got going but decided on the 8320 instead.

BenPSkinner 1 point 51 months ago

At the moment the fx 8320 is going for barely over the price of the 6300. So why not 8 cores instead of 6? :D

SothothFatalis 1 Build 1 point 51 months ago

Well, aside from the fact that "barely more expensive" is still a bit more expensive, the FX-8320 will be harder to cool due to the extra cores when overclocked.

BenPSkinner 1 point 51 months ago

oh yes, true dat bro. It just depeneds on personal preference. I honestly do not like to manually overclock my CPU as i'd rather let the computer handle all that and in my case i wouldn't need the extra speed.

Great build. How are those fans working? I might be getting some soon.

charliegunn submitter 1 Build 1 point 51 months ago

Fans have been good! I recommend them. Perfect for my machine to say the least.

Who did the case logo it is simply fantastic!!!!! +1 for zombies!!!. How are the ram. My build ended up being an orange theme and those would look good in it....Cougar makes great fans and I run the 8320 and the same PSU. Good parts, not familiar with the GPU how do you like it? Also a picture of the entire PC with side off so we can look at the cabling would be great. Nice work.

charliegunn submitter 1 Build 1 point 51 months ago

I will post some more pics with the side off when I get a chance. I got those logos online and put them on myself. Zombies! And so far that GPU has done excellent for me. Thanks!

I would not advertise here. Probably a bad idea
