Description

I had written a long description and it didn't save and now I'm sour >.<

I got the processor through Intel Retail Edge, if anyone was wondering how I got it that cheap.

Will come back and do a proper description when I have some more time!

As soon as I finish some reorg of my wiring I'll also add pics of the system while it's running

For those who were wondering, I got those Cowboy Bebop decals from stickeraddicts.com, I thought I'd mentioned that but I guess I forgot.

Part Reviews

CPU

I couldn't pass up this deal and needed a new PC, badly. It runs like a beast and overclocks like a beast, though I'm gonna set it back to stock settings because I simply don't need the extra power.

CPU Cooler

Got this with my employee discount at BestBuy. My idle temps are usually around 32 degrees Celsius, but may go up to 35 if I lower my fan speeds significantly. Haven't gotten a consistent reading under load yet, but its remained relatively cool. As a plus, it looks way better than an air cooler would have!

Motherboard

Gorgeous mobo, really high quality. Works perfectly, the UI is intuitive, and did I mention it's gorgeous?

Memory

Went for the bling here, but this memory actually turned out to be pretty fast, and has worked perfectly from the get-go. I was initially afraid that buying an off-brand for the looks would bite me in the ***, but I have had zero problems.

Storage

It's fast. It's big. It's reliable. I got it cheap. Couldn't be happier, really.

Storage

HDD, works as advertised. Really solid price, and I really wanted a Hitachi instead of the Seagate garbage I see failing everywhere. Smaller cache, but this is for storage so I'm not concerned.

Video Card

Beastly card, looks absolutely awesome with its pipes, and takes everything I throw at it like a champ, even in 1440p (or in Skyrim's case 3620x2036 DSR). Gonna get a backplate for this soon to seal the deal.

Case

Beatiful, big, beautiful. I love the 5.25-less design and the PSU shroud. Really solid build quality here, has some great features to it. My only complaints are that the included fan hub has no controller and that you can't remove the bottom dust filter from the front of the case.

Power Supply

Essentially a 650W SeaSonic G-series (actually is). High quality capacitors, premium product packaging, and nice, quality black cables for a clean look.

Sound Card

It's a fantastic improvement, but the software is a little annoying.

Keyboard

Bundled with the Sabre. Aside from being really cool and having the best RGB lighting on the market, it's got a really nice aluminum body and feels like it's high-quality, which is why I took this over the Razer Blackwidow Chroma.

Mouse

Bundled with the K70 RGB. Nice feel, seems to work well with my grip-style. The ability to adjust sensitivity directly from the mouse comes in handy too.

Headphones

Got this from a friend who didn't use it anymore. I only wish the cable was longer. Aside from that, it's a really good headset.

Speakers

Got it at BestBuy with my employee discount. For what I paid, it's a great 2.1 system. First one was a lemon though, and I exchanged it the same day. These speakers can get very, very loud.

See ya, space cowboy.

How did you get the Bebop pictures on the case anyway? That's neat. I'd love to do that with something from Code Geass or Clannad or something.

Great build! I have the Hero VII as well and it is great! I do have a question about the H100i. I was thinking about getting that but I saw an Amazon review that said it left too much space on the Hero VII leading to high temps. Did you have any problems like that?

TheNippledCow 1 point 23 months ago

U can buy new fans for it and replace the stock ones like I am doing

mhiziab submitter 1 Build 1 point 23 months ago

I haven't had any issues so far, and I actually just added the stock fans back in for a push/pull config. Almost had a clearance issue with my ram (practically 1mm between the fan and my sticks lol)

I really like the Cowboy Bebop decals on the case. They add a nice touch to the build. It's also nice to see someone appreciate a classic anime

I would love to see some interior pictures though, overall a nice build +1

I'm thinking about buying the Corsair air series (quiet edition) or silent wings 2, is corsair's fans loud? (The quiet edition ones)?

mhiziab submitter 1 Build 2 points 18 months ago

The corsairs are definitely louder than I anticipated. I'd go with the silent wings 2 if I were you.

Rez_ 1 point 18 months ago

Thanks dude. What about the H100i? Is it also loud?

mhiziab submitter 1 Build 2 points 18 months ago

At its quietest it's noticeable, and any louder than that you'd better have headphones on. I don't notice most of the time because I do wear headphones but the pump can be obnoxiously loud. If you want a silent build just go for air cooling

Rez_ 1 point 17 months ago

Yeah, sad that air cooling doesn't look as good as water cooling though, but what do you think about my build?: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ChtswP Note: I might change some parts and stuff. :P

Rez_ 1 point 17 months ago

Btw. why did you choose the static pressure fans? I think you only need them for the radiator? Where did you put them?

mhiziab submitter 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

Because of the way the front of the case is designed, the front fans are actually pulling through a gap on the side of the front cover. There's practically no open space in front of them

Aminican 1 point 18 months ago

Where did you get your CPU? For that price it is a steal.

mhiziab submitter 1 Build 1 point 18 months ago

It was actually from newegg, on sale and with a $35 MIR

Aminican 1 point 17 months ago

O wow, when did you buy it?

mhiziab submitter 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

June or July of this year (2015)

Aminican 1 point 17 months ago

Oh, okay. Thanks!

mhiziab submitter 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

I totally read this PSU! I work at Best Buy and got the processor through Intel's Retail Edge purchase program. They have summer and winter deals where members of the Retail Edge program can purchase one of two processors at a severely discounted price.

Absolutely amazing +1
