Description

I wanted a computer that could play anything I wanted to without getting frustrated. My integrated graphics core 2 duo just wasn't doing the trick. This computer has certainly lived up to my expectations so far.

PRODUCT THOUGHTS:

CPU: Yes, I was one of the lucky few who cashed in on the $200 4770k at Microcenter. The processor is, well, amazing. Runs everything at light speed. Temps are generally in the 23C range browsing the internet.

CPU cooler: Boy, did I have a heck of a time installing this bad boy. But after 45 minutes of sweating and cursing, it finally popped in place. It's nice and quiet and keeps everything cool.

Motherboard: UEFI BIOS is easy to use. Quality of build is good. However, the onboard audio chip was fried, so I had to purchase a $10 USB audio adapter, but whatever.

SDD/HDD: The 840 EVO is incredible. Windows boots in about 7 seconds. The HDD is fine as well, I'm putting all my steam games and school stuff on there.

GPU: I bought this GPU on December first, about 3 days before the litecoin boom. It was cheaper than the Direct CU II, so I figured why not. I haven't experienced any of the commonly complained symptoms (coil whine, artifacts) and the LEDs are cool so I'm really enjoying it so far. It's pretty quiet too (and demolishes anything I throw at it.) Sorry, no benchmarks at this time.

Case: I really like this case, I got it refurbed from corsair. Looks great, only complaint is the window is kinda ugly, but I can deal.

Monitor: OMG. This monitor is so good. And for $130. IPS panel looks so good. Colors are very vibrant. Buy this monitor.

So, I guess this is it! Thanks for reading!

Nice build. Can't believe you cashed in on that price for the 4770K! I thought my 4670k for $220 in Canada was a good deal...

Wow. I, too, must comment on the great CPU price. This is from a fellow Microcenter shopper. RAM and GPU too. Heck of a sub-$1100 build. With the monitor too. Awesome.

+1 For the case! All these new builds with the new corsair cases makes me want a new case. Now, of course I don't "need" it. But if something were to "happen" to my new one, I guess I'll have to get another to replace it.

This quality of build for the price you paid is really impressive. The cable management is good, and the part selection is great. Just make sure you're getting a processor that's right for you if there isn't an incredible sale like you cashed in on. I would have gone with a 770 because I like having PhysX and Shadowplay, but overall this is a really great build, and if you really want more performance throw another video card in there.

Great price! What was the on-board audio doing that let you know it was fried? You were able to rule out a driver issue?

"The processor is, well, amazing." Laughed really hard at this. Congratulations +1.
