This is something I've always wanted and I finally made it happen after over 10 years of not having a gaming PC so I went a little overboard and spent more then I had planned. It was definitely worth it. The build process was as smooth as it could be. The full size Corsair 780 case has an ample amount of space to work in and large enough for a custom cooling loop when the time comes. For now, I'm cooling my 8700k with the Kraken x62 pushing out of the top. Processor overclocked to 5.0ghz stable between 60-76°C under full synthetic load (stress test). When gaming i havent seen it peak above 57°C. MSI Godlike gaming is the ideal motherboard for overclocking as it holds voltages stable where other mobos can not. The RGB ont this motherboard is unmatched as well. 16gb 3000Mhz G. Skill ripjaw RAM for now. Will eventually uprgrade to the Trident Z RGB 64gb. Currently running the MSI gaming trio 1080Ti card. Phenomenal card! Super quiet and can be easily overclocked with stock cooling. I have my GPU overclocked @ 2.0ghz with memory at 1.5ghz. With stock cooling it hasn't seen more than 60°C under full load while running Time spy benchmark. 850W power supply and a 27" 1440 monitor to display this beast. Fastest computer I have ever used.

Nice build. I did a 7820X X299 build in the Corsair 780T just recently and EXTREMELY happy with the case. Good choice!

Good idea to have only 500 gb ssd storage for budget.

How is the NZXT cooler holding up? I have read a lot of reviews the pumps die at an early age.

I also read a review about pump failure after about a year but i dont like making judgments off one or two bad reviews. I havnt read any reviews reporting leaks which is alot more important to me. I must say it's doing a great job. I had my processor overclocked to 5.1ghz to do some benchmarking and it never peaked over 76°C. Very impressive for an AIO.

I have this inexplicable stigma against MSI, I can't explain it lol. But this is a very impressive build with very impressive performance, and that's indubitable. +1 to you, Sir, even in I don't like MSI

Strange... because i feel the same way about ASUS for some reason

SirHalpin 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

What!! how!! Their products are so....symmetrical! And simple, and attractive!! I also love EVGA please tell me you don't have a stigma against them as well

Well the last time I built a gaming rig was in 2007. I'm sure ASUS has improved the quality of their products since then, but I'm going to stick with MSI for the purpose of more stable overclocking. EVGA is awesome, I almost went with the EVGA KINGPIN 1080ti but couldnt justify the cost with little difference in performance.

oh thank god. well yeah theyre certainly a top tier company, I would expect excellence from nearly everything they sell. I had the 1060 DUAL, it was amazing, I have a Z270 PRIME-AR and it's performed well, I'm going to buy a Z370 MAXIMUX X Formula for my new i7-8700K, and I use a PG279Q 1440p 165hz monitor. Bit of an ASUS and EVGA fanboy, but when it comes to fans and RAM I stick with Corsair.

1 thing asus need to change is their price, somehow they cost way too much in a way to make you change to other product with almost the same performance or even better. IMO though don't judge me XD
